Herschel January 10.03.2009 | There is a different shade, but it looks more of the top left hand corner of a boxed shape, and since you can't see the bottom or right side clearly, I would venture to guess that it's a square. It's either a flatter version of this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHLr7...eature=related Or... it's a rip-off video of a piece of paper over a controller that shows off a concept that actually works. Either way, a multi-touch interface that is built from a camera and a surface is possible and would work with any DAW if you have the nerve and time to program it. |
Marcel Ei Gio 10.03.2009 | if you look, there is a difference in the shade of the paper. it is straight lined and has a corner. check left hand side, about 1/4 way down. |
Herschel January 10.03.2009 | The idea is very similar to that used in the Reactable http://mtg.upf.edu/reactable/ They even show you how to build it. Completely real. If you click under "related" on that site, you can see a lot of people have and use the same idea in slightly different forms. |
Joesph Vincze 10.03.2009 | I built a touchpad like the other link shows. It works by locating a shadow, and requires to be projected from under the touch surface. It has drawbacks, you have to reconfigure the software every time you move your box because of the changing background lighting. But it's a fun tool in my workshop/studio. I use it with a freeware drum machine called GControl. Though I left that project for a homemade Lemur. Agreed with midifidler, it's a Da Scratch underneath the paper. |
Penni Rigor 10.03.2009 | Microsoft touch...with paper over it maybe? |

Latoria Kavulich 09.03.2009 | lay a Pamela Anderson pic on the surface and use her boobies to scratch. Hell Yeah |

Edmundo Gosselin 09.03.2009 | there are on youtube movies how they do this... paper makes it possible that light is coming through. under it is a webcam connected to the pc/mac. so the webcam receives light signals. And atleast you just need software to replace the signals into commands |
Victor Bradshaw 01.09.2008 | it actually looks like there is something under the paper in the video. you are right its an easy hoax. it leads me to believe that people that don't give out any info on what they are doing then it is probably a hoax. how hard is to say on video, how you created the midi controller. keeping it a secret is one thing and defiantly doesn't make you cooler in my book if you do keep it a secret. there is more power in sharing knowledge i believe. |
Dj Daxsen 01.09.2008 | there is nothing to prove that it's real, there is nothing to prove that it is fake. it could easily be a hoax, you could have a vci plugged into the laptop and have someone controlling it off camera. there are many ways you could fake it. |
Victor Bradshaw 01.09.2008 | he's not hiding anything you see the camera he is using. the sound card i believe is just to throw you off he would be using the camera if he is doing it for real and there is nothing under the paper. im going to make a video similar to this where i draw a keyboard then play some notes then crumple the paper up so you see nothings attached. |
