Alright, I've thought about is some, and its not too hard to install the PXF. All you need to do is really drill two holes and then use a larger drill to make a recess for the head of the machine screw (that is included with the PXF). The hard part is now figuring out how to remove the plexiglass on the surface.

I guess I need to buy a drill and some bits.

I like to go extremes! But my suggestion will seem a bit more reasonable if you're focused with the VCI-300. I mod pc's and game consoles, so it's already in my ball park.

I'd really like to know about it.
Would be dope if the fader could be open a little bit earlier than at the moment when set to "sharp" fadercurve.

About the cut lag mod, i was going to make a separate thread on how to do it. Just never got around to post it up.

Just wondering if one of you guys allready replaced the original crossfader by now?

Cut lag mod for the original fader? What did you do? Didn't see anything on the pictures.

You can buy a dremel series for 20 bucks at Walmart(if you're in the states), it should be adequate enough for drillin the hole.

It was hard the first time around because I wanted to have clear understanding and take it off cleanly, just a word of warning that the inside pbc cardboards will fall off, all 3 of mines fell off, I just took regular scotch tape and taped it back on, on the sides, they are held on originally with hot glue.

Here's the screws you should pay attention to:

1) the 2 screws on left and right sides
.
All 3 following screws are on the back.

2) the screw next to the AC adapter (black)
3) the screw between the Master out (center black screw)
4) the GND screw next to the level knob

Do not unscrew the screws that are on the RCA jacks, they are there to support the rca jacks.

claudek, the hard time you had lifting it up is because of the rubber corners that holding on to the cover tightly, just move it up mm by mm each corner and eventually you'll understand.

But for your job wheels, I believe you do not have to take off the cover, just take off the jog wheel covers/metal and plastic plate and you'll get some access to it.

But here's a shot for ya:

For everyone else, here's the fader in the vci that I did my cut lag mod on:

These shots were taken with my Iphone 3G, my real camera is 300miles away. So is the iphone pictures adequate enough for everyone?

If you're viewing the last picture on a Macbook pro, the fader is pretty much life size, bring your vci-300 next to the screen and see how it's almost exact with the jog wheel size.

Problem #1: VCI-100 and the PXF are intended for being mounted from an external surface (see http://www.djranking s.com/2008/11/0...00-crossfader/).

The VCI-300 crossfader is mounted from inside. As such, it is not immediately mechanically able to attach the PXF. So what I have to do (and I'm not sure I'm going to do this) is drill holes and tap the top surface of the VCI (well, beneath the plexiglass surface).

the only thing we would need is some measurement of vci 300 space once original fader is out.
Ludivina Krampf

I didn't get to switch the fader because the one I have is too tall unfortunately. The fader is a penny and giles fader that I extracted from a Stanton 3 channel mixer that had sound problems, but the fader is in perfect condition(tested with my Vestax 05 pro 3. (I'll look for the model number when I get home later).

I haven't got to try to switch it out to see if it works while the vci 300 is open because I'll have to solder an adapter together (I'm trying to make a plug and play invention) to switch out the fader easily and retain the original connector. But after my warranty goes out on it, I'll try and cut a rectangle hole in the back of the unit to accommodate any fader that can be used (and bump up the rubber stands on the bottom to raise the height. I been wanting to get a Pro X fade or Innofader but haven't have the funds and set out to get it.

I'll make a separate thread when I get around to open up my vci again.

I've took mines apart already to do the cut lag mod myself.. Too bad I believe my iphone pics are bad. I'll try to have measurements next time. What I can say is the fader height is pretty short /thin. My penny and giles fader was double the height of the black part of the fader.

So i contacted the pro x fade costumer service and asked about
pro x fader on vci 300
The answer was as follows

We have had many questions about the vci 300 however we have as yet not fitted a fader in that model ourselves. However as it works in the VCI 100 there is not many reasons besides the 300 not having the mechanical space inside that the fader wouldn't work. If you like you could send me some digi pics of the hardware with close ups of the inside under the faceplate and the wire connector etc.

I can have a look and let you know.

Thanks,

Anyone took it apart already with pics?

there are rumors of a mini-innofader that might do the trick.

you sure the faders are the same in the 100 as the 300?

Unfortunately, the Innofader will not physically fit in the VCI-300. As far as I know, the PXF works with the VCI-100, so by inference it should work with the VCI-300. I have my VCI-300 arriving next week, I'll put an order in for the PXF and see if I can get it to work.
