What Basic Setup Do You Use To Play Out?
Posted on: 31.03.2008 by Mister Minsk
My Basic Setup For Playing Out Is Currently:

- Laptop: MacBook Pro C2D
- Software: Traktor 3.3
- Audio Interface: NI Audio8 DJ
- Headphones: Sony MDR-7506

I Run Traktor In External Mixing Mode Into The Venue's DJ Mixer.

The Main Thing I'm Missing For A Compact Laptop Setup Is A Crossfader Controller.
I'm Thinking Of Getting A Novation Nocturne for This.

BTW... I've got probably the fastest setup possible? All I have to do is plug in my rca cables and one power cord and I'm done. Plus, my setup runs on batteries so it literally takes me a minute to set up. Truly plug and play! Sometimes I play on the road in my car... then pull the gear out and hook it up in the club... I love it!

Getting my new soundcard next week and some studio monitors! woot.
How can you dj with open headphones like that? the sound would drown everything out coming through the phones.

To contribute:
13" macbook 2.0 ghz with 2gbs ram.
BCD3000 (next move is probably a trigger finger and then eventually a better sound card. But the BCD is actually great. It does almost everything I need to do)
Headphones at home are Beyerdynamic DT880s, Grado HF-1s, Grado SR-60s, or Westone UM1s (depending on how I feel )
Headphones playing out are AKG K518DJs (which kind of suck for playing out. I need to get Senn 25s. The AKGs become all bass and treble when they are loud. The midrange just goes away.)
