I just made a whole new controller. It's made with the Hale Micro UMC32 and has built in usb midi. check it out...

This was the first test with it, just messing with some songs. It won't really be used for djing, but more for playing original music.

honostly, this probably cost the same as a trigger finger or an mpd 24. I haven't calculated the total cost, but the circuit board is $75, the buttons are $2 each, and the faders were $14 each i believe, the pots and knobs were probably less than a buck each. So total cost is at least $150 not including some tools I didn't already have and wire and stuff I did already have.

This was definitely more for fun than for economic reasons.
