Meet Ol' Bessie - my midibox 64 project

hi guys,

I thought I would share my midibox project with you. Let me know if you have any suggestions or tips as its my 1st one!

I have built all my modules, just fine tweaking my pots/fader choices. I am also trying to fabricate a jog wheel similar to the VCI.

Does anyone know anywhere in the UK i could get a small run of parts fabricated?

here is where im up to with the layout. Its taken a lot of fiddling to get it to this point!
olBessienew2.jpg

Im also documenting my build on my blog, i had no experience with electronics so it was a really steep learning curve for me and I want others to benefit from all the hours i spent pouring over circuit diagrams.

Im still updating it as its new: //www.herkemusic.com

Let me know if you have any questions!
cheers

Hi,

The reason I went down the midibox route is that I wanted a really solid controller as most of them feel really cheap and plastic. This one is going to be built like a brick

I ordered the parts from mikes midishop in germany. They took about a week to get here, however for some reason he doesnt have paypal or google checkout so I had to put the money into his account directly. for this "service" the bank charged me

thats awesome. Nice and tidy.

Its great that more people are building midiboxes. Did you get your modules from avishowtech.com? I ordered from them but its been backordered for a couple weeks now.

Anyhow, keep us updated.

Ahh well.....

If you have an Allen Heath......Mix external!

My residency also have an Allen Heath.... I don;t have it at home to use, but i am sure I will use it.

Then i can leave my VCI on Fader FX mode. You shoudl have a similar functionality with your controller.

Yeah.....VCI with 3 channels....woulda been nice!

Hi,

yeah its all running into an external mixer.

By the looks of the new version of Traktor you might be able to output the track volumes if at some point i wanted to do a different version with a mixer, but I prefer my allen & heath

All the on/off buttons will be illiminated too so I know which are on or not too

Thats like....the cows name on the farm!

Super COOL!

How are you going to control the volume etc?

Or will this be used with External Mixer?
