Hey, just wondering if any one has a review on these for using with Traktor pro?

Possible comparison to VCI 100?
Learning curve - how dificult are these to learn to use?
Do these come pre maped for traktor pro?

Would really appreciate your views on this combination.

Thanks in advance

im am playing with a faderfox dj2 and a audiofire2 audiointerface (sometimes i use my axiom keyboard for fx control) for about a year now, and it works fine as a very small and mobile setup. the mapping of the dj2 is well thought although the controller layout was originally designed for traktor3 not pro (there is an tp .tsi anyway). i modified it a bit to fit my needs. theire well build, but due to the small size, buttons knobs and faders are very close to each other. working with it was quite intuitive and the lerning curve low. so if youre playing spontaneously or at small parties it is a nice setup, since you can bring easily everything you need.

if you already have your own mixer or plan to play in clubs, i would rather go with one or to dx2 and mix externally.

one of the downsides of the faderfoxes for me is the lack of visual feedback, so you have to be carefull and watch your screen to see if i.e. fx or loops are on or not.

i din't had my hands on a vci so can't tell you much, i in general i would say it serves the same purpose as the dj2/dx2combo but you get real jogwheels and visual feeback. so i would prefer a vci over a combination of those2

so
  • if you like a small and portable setup chose the faderfox dj2 with a small audiointerface,
  • if you prefer an all pupose weapon of choice go with the vci and
  • for a modular setup with external mixing take 2 dx2 (or like me, wait for some new controllers to come, which serves the same purpose but have visual feedback.. im speculating at the ni controller)

as you asked for the dj2/dx2combo it seems that you would like to mix internally so i would recommend the vci over the faderfox combo

I use a DJ2 and works great, it's all I use with Traktor there are buttons and knobs for just about everything, it comes with a TSI file premaped for the software and it's built like a tank. The only gripe is that you need 2 of those to control 4 decks at once.
