presonus firebox-pops and cracks creeping in. Posted on: 01.12.2009 by Lily Rhem I've been having these problems with my firebox were pops a cracks creep in over a certain period of time no matter the latency(I know I'm not the only one). But if you have problems with yours and your running through a pci slot usb/firewire card, make sure its newer. Buying a new pci card with updated firewire ports fixed everything and they are as cheap as 15 dollars! Hope this helps some people... | |

Loyce Bosma 10.12.2009 | I accept with information: The "mini" firewire port is a 4-pin port and will not power it. The larger firewire (i.e. regular-sized on both ends - matches the end that you put into the firebox) is a 6-pin connector and will power it. |

Penni Rigor 08.12.2009 | Yup...thanks keeb for the info,but...I'm actually wondering if the PCI slot firewire ports will power the firebox...less cables the better. |

The larger firewire (i.e. regular-sized on both ends - matches the end that you put into the firebox) is a 6-pin connector and will power it. On my laptop, I only have the 4-pin and have to use the power adapter. On my desktop I have the 6 pin and it works fine without the power adapter. |
Penni Rigor 07.12.2009 | Does anyone recommend a certain brand over another, and...does the firewire thru PCI slot power your firebox, or do you still need the A/C adapter? My HP has the mini 1394 firewire port which doesn't power mine, so was hoping to remedy that with a PCI slot regular version. |
Lily Rhem 02.12.2009 | i just made sure it was a 1394 firewire port and that it had gold pin connecters. Couple hours deep of straight of mixing on 4latency and not one pop or crack. |
juan garcia 02.12.2009 | fireboxs are sensitive to what chipset is the firewire card perhaps replacing yours got you a different chipset which plays nicer with the firebox? |
