Anyone tried Pioneer CDJ-2000's yet? Posted on: 18.12.2009 by Lolita Breaker Haven't been in a DJ shop since they were launched, and due to their limited quality and the fact they're made of solid gold I don't believe I'll see one for a long time. Been online and every review either recaps the specs or is ridiculously biased ("it'll revolutionise everything" etc)Was just wondering if anyone on here has had a chance to play with one, and if so what it was like? | |

I got the opportunity to beat up both of them for about an hour and a half. I would have to agree that the 900 seems like a better way to go. It had some really cool features that where missing on the 2000 and its cheaper! |

| Roselle Mcnaul 22.12.2009 | For the record, I could care less about brand name, as I have personally owned a wide variety of CD and mixer models. No, Im not a Pioneer fan boy who sits outside a store at 5am waiting to get my hands on a new product. This is purely based on first hand ownership. Having owned all of the above, and also DJ frequently with a friend who owns a top end Denon dual CD deck (DN-D9000), he asks me to bring both my decks over for one simple reason: the cue functions, control, and ease of use. Every Denon deck I've used can't properly cue worth a shit, you have to use the A1/A2 hot cue assignment to get the same effect, even then it is not the most time conscious process, nor effective in coming close to emulating the cue abilities of even a CDJ-800 MK1. It's like this *every* Denon deck I've used, and trust me, I have tried them all - no exaggeration. The buttons also have a large amount of angular slack on all sides, which makes it difficult to tap on the fly. Attempt to depress any of the Cue and Play buttons of a Denon deck from any angle and see if you can register a "click", you wont do it. This largely detriments the overall feel of the deck, and if this weren't important, why does everyone bother modding their MIDI controllers with Arcade Buttons? - cause the originals suck, plain and simple. Yeah, I will gladly admit Denon has the edge on features, but I for one rarely even touch them, and I'm well aware of what they do, and how to execute them. Trust me, try the best possible Denon deck you can find, and try any revision CDJ-1000, or even a CDJ-400 (to be as handicapped as possible in this comparison), you'll know what's "fashionable" when it comes to raw function, user intuitiveness, and general quality. There's a reason they are considered standard as far as CD decks go. Don't take my post for it, go out to a music store and try these things out first hand, you'll immediately know what I mean. |

What is the advantage of having a CDJ system in comparison to a Digital system? Digital systems incorporate mobile surfaces/platters now so what's the advantage? analogue mixing? |
| Random X 21.12.2009 | That's what people let believe the masses. Many things that Pioneer is selling as cutting edge, has already been done on the 3700 by Denon. One the biggest basterds being the identical copy of the silver jogknob. Sorry, it's a fine piece of machinery. And it does it's job more nicely than the CDJ-1000, but it's not as groundbraking as it was presented. |

| Random X 21.12.2009 | I was present at the Global unveiling presentation. Got to be honest, 'Dawn of a new Era' is too high of a name if you ask me. It's a nice new generation/evolution of the CDJ-1000, but no more than that. All the, this is how the future is gonna be, well, that would have been the case 5 years ago. It's a nice step up from Pioneer, but they still have a long way to catch up. The Denon DNS-3700 still has my vote in favour of the CDJ-2000. |

| Roselle Mcnaul 20.12.2009 | Thats because it has Slip Mode, which works in conjunction extremely well with the loop length adjustment buttons. It keeps the song in phase, running underneath the hood, while you do all sorts of sampling, stuttering, scratching, etc. It basically allows anyone to do what James Zabiela does on the 1000's. |
| Al Henger 20.12.2009 | I haven't used the 2000s or the 900s (well, actually not even the 1000s that much haha), but I'll be honest, I've seen some guys tear it up on 900s (much better than they were on 1000s dont know why). granted, djm 800 was nice for them too. |
