Morphing 2 USB controllers
Morphing 2 USB controllers Posted on: 28.12.2009 by Sharleen Binckley Just wondering if anyone would know if it would be possible to morph 2 usb devices so that they run on one USB port as opposed to 2. Ideally I want to stay away from using a USB hub so would like to take 2 USB devices and somehow morph the connections from into the other. Is this possible? Thanks | |

Sharleen Binckley 29.12.2009 | Cool, thanks for that. Your set-up is similar to mine so it should be fine, just wanted to check (havent got the nanokontrol yet so thought I'd ask before spending the money). But essentially I want to avoid plugging in things during set-up at a gig to save time. Mounting the whole lot in one casing with one cable coming out is what I am aiming for. Thanks a lot. |
Jaye Nydam 29.12.2009 | not sure if i have missed the point here but i use this set up. a normal mac qwerty keyboard has 2 usb ports in it that can power low power usb bus devices, so i plug my nano kontrol (its usb not midi) & my sound card into my keyboard, so thats 3 devices into 1 usb port. I have never had a prob with this i use traktor & ableton. |
Sharleen Binckley 29.12.2009 | I'll tell you what Im looking to do. I wanna use a QWERTY keyboard for Traktor as its got loads of buttons which is useful for cue points, loading options, searching and so on, and I want to use a Korg nanokontrol for the rotary faders to use for the internal FX. Ideally it would be sweet if I could open the 2 up, ditch their casing, build my own box and put the 2 in there together running off 1 USB port. Only thing is the keyboard is HID (is that what is called? Im a bit of a novice), and the nanokontrol is midi...I believe. Would that present problems? Or I've just had a thought. If I try a none-powered USB hub first to see if everything runs smooth off of one USB port, I could build my own casing and just put the hub inside so that only one cable comes out. Are there any issues with using a none-powered USB hub with Traktor, Audio 8, running on a macbook 2.4, 4gig? I only ask as I want to minimise any potential problems mid set. Thanks |
