Livid Ohm mod...

I have come across a livid ohm for 300... I wanted a monome modeling controller to use in ableton. I noticed that the back lighting on the livid ohm is an on off switch. It doesn't use midi signals to turn on and off the lighting on individual controls. I was wondering if anyone had an idea to change the leds in a way where it would show me where I would have clips. Kind of like any other monome style controller.
