Potential future setup ... will it work?

Right

I currently use a battered old Lenovo, with an AK1, TP and a VCI100SE

I'd like to learn how to add proper scratch transitions to this, so I'm intending to upgrade to 2x1210, TSP w. A8. I'd like to incorporate the VCI to run the FX and cue points as well as decks C&D, so a can bang some samples around

Is this possible?

How many channels would I need on the mixer to run this, I've got a ropey old Kam one that was chucked in when I bought the decks, but the faders are horrible

To be fair I reckon internal mixing might be the place to start - can't afford TSP & an whizzy mixer any time soon, so TSP first, then maybe a mixer upgrade if required.

well there is 4 faders on your vci
so +1 on internal mixing!

Just mix internal? I too thought an analogue mixer was required, but my eyes were opened last week.

This might just be personal opinion but Id set it up with a 2 channel mixer, so I was mixing using the mixer for the TT's, then use the VCI mixer controls for decks c and d. I believe this would be the best bet as you wouldnt have a whole section of the VCI wasted like you would if you say used a 4 channel mixer.
