Delete + sync will line them up

also try delete + loops for some instant 1 - 1/8 bar loops

Delete is the "shift" button for the ns7.

i dont use the auto sync, if i was going to use it i would just use my apc40 with traktor... hopefully one day they will get the ns7 working well with traktor...

fyi here are all the shift functions for the ns7/v7, you have to be using itch 1.5 or later for them to work

(the DELETE button now doubles as SHIFT on the NS7)

SHIFT + CRATE = sort current view by Song
SHIFT + PREPARE = sort current view by Artist
SHIFT + FILES = sort current view by BPM
SHIFT + 1, 2, 4, 8 = Loop Roll 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1
SHIFT + SYNC = beat sync
SHIFT + 1/2, 2x, L, R = Selects Stored Loops 1-4 and Reloops them instantly
SHIFT + Track Next / Prev = fast forward/fast rewind
SHIFT + FWD - Sort current view by album
SHIFT + BACK - Sort current view by track number

^^ oh man, I didn't even know it had a shift button.

Actually, i'm enjoying beatmatching and nudging the platter. Makes it fun.

I also have an NS7 and vci-100...

I must say that the vci gets more use, because of its size, and compatibility with Traktor...

The NS7 is an awesome piece of kit, but I don't use it as much because of it's lack of compatibility with Traktor (I'm hoping for the end of this year), and its large size (pain to take out)...

I like Itch's simplicity, but love Traktor's robustness... if only NI would support the NS7 hardware, it would be an awesome tool with Traktor, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

So I say go for the ns7 if you want a vinyl-like experience, but be prepared to get used to the basic-ness of Itch if you're coming from Traktor (though some people like the simplicity!)

Thank you so much for this review. It stated what I had suspected all along. It also looks a LOT more fun because, as you said, it's like real gear.

This is a hard decision.

I just got one...here's a brief review. Bottom line: you can do TONS more with a VCI-100 and Traktor....but the NS7 is sexier, can scratch and feels better.

So i traded my two 1200 mk2 turntables and 100 bucks for an NS7. My turntables were a bit old, but really I haven't used them in a while and have them just sitting there collecting dust. The NS7 had some miles on it, the guy gigs with it every weekend....but man it works great! It’s a double edge sword - the NS7 has signs of wear and tear, the center portion of the mixer is worn out, some of the lines on the crossfader are worn out (gonna try to order a new piece) - but the way I look at it is: if it shows this much use, it means its been used for a while. Use = it works. This thing is battle tested!

My thoughts: its definetly a mix between a controller and turntables. In its case its heavy as f%ck! Not something I would want to lug around all the time--- I believe other than scratching and having the tactile feel of "real" gear the VCI + Traktor smokes it as far as funtionality and options. To be honest Trakors Quantize and Snap modes have spoiled me. The FX's are basic in comparison to TP, but the Delay, Echo and the Filters all worked well though. (and those are what I use most).

The play and cue buttons didn't have the best response time....the hotcues did. (this could be because I haven't calibrated it). I feel there is so much more that I can do do with the VCI-100 and traktor ---- but oddly enough I really liked the NS7. What makes it so appealing is that it feels like "real" gear. The spinning platters have AWESOME response, so do the faders. Sound quality was good (not great) but comparable to any midi controller and sound card. However, I will always be a fan of the sound from a good soundcard thru an analog mixer. Either way it sounded pretty damn good.

Itch doesn't have actual "sync" (it just puts both BPMs at the same number - you can do this by adjusting the pitch yourself) so you have to beatmatch and I found that not having the tools in traktor required me be more involved "in the mix" so to speak. Then add the tactile feel of the NS7, plus platters it was just fun old school DJing. Nothing fancy - just fun.
