you could use some DVS's like mixvides, virtual dj, and deckadance with the RMX but serato and traktor and torq need their respective audio boxes hooked up to work.

Hey, it's called the Hercules RMX, not the Sparkly Princess RMX for reason.

If you're checking out those two, make sure to check out the "Reloop digital jockey - interface edition" as well!

Hi all,

As I just recently went through the RMX query myself I thought I should share my thoughts.

I originally purchased the RMX for many of the same reason discussed hear. The price was right, it was finally not a toy, and with an integrated Audio card saved me a butt load of money.

Issues:
Well the big thing for me was the audio card. I cant be taken seriously as a digital dj if my tracks sound like crap. And on this front is where the RMX truly failed me. The out puts are quiet, and so I needed to run the gains all the way up just to get good levels on a mixer. This brought out the noise flour issue. I know what your believeing, digital dose not have a noise flour. But in this case (RMX) that's not true. The outputs are not properly isolated from the data. I was able to hear the electrical hisses and winning of my hard drive and processor. Now at full volume, with the track pumping, this is negligible. But as a trance DJ when I got to the brakes I could hear it quite clearly.

To be fair this may just be a problem with my Laptop, but I have not experienced this problem with any other profession audio card.

Secondly, was a ground looping issue. This one is a funny little gremlin. On some mixers/systems all I had to do was connect the grounding pint from the RMX to the mixers ground and tada, no problem. On others though - if my laptop was plugged in, there was a buzz on the hole system and ground wire or no, I could not fix it. So i ran on my battery and ended my set early :-(

I believe for me the bottom line is that if you are DJing with your own rig (always) you can make a good system. But for me, I needed the piece of mind that I could plug in any where any time and sound fantastic. The RMX just did not deliver that for me

Likes:
As for as a controller I thought the RMX did a fantastic job, but I would not attempt to be a controllerist on it. And since I believe the audio is crap, I'm going to suggest you get the Steal.

Compaired to VCI-100:
I didn't understand why the VCI-100 was soooo much for just a controller. Now that I have one however I am fully convinced. It is well thought out and has allot of advanced features. I am a controllerist and as one, I must say, this is the controller to have.

Thanks for the thread

I have updated the .TKS files for latest Traktor 3.4, enjoy

- Pitch Reset updated for Traktor 3.4, same function but an
update in the midi out setup was necessary.
- Add Sync led turn on/off for deck A & B, now it follow the
beat like in Virtual DJ.
- New Midi page 3 to browse tracks with Jogs like in Virtual
DJ, try to push up, right or down buttons and move one of
the jogs.
- New Modify in the selection of midi page 2, now the button
Scratch have a memory and led is turned on when you are in
midi page 2, if you re-push you coming back in midi page 1.

I'm the new guy here...however, I have the Hercules RMX as I was looking for a midi controller to use with VDJ.

I initially started with the Numark Total Control...and I was more than bummed I had purchased it. It was too much in the way of plastic feel and I was having problems with it working on my backup notebook...though it met the requirements of TC. So, I got on the hook with Numark to see if they could help me get the TC running as it should on the notebook....and I'm not joking....but they were near clueless. I had called back and talked to 3 different guys in their tech department too.

So, with too much of the plastic toy feel of the TC and the fact that their tech department was lost....I gave up on the TC, returned it, and picked up the Hercules RMX.

I have not yet used the RMX at any "real" venues...only for a couple small parties here at my house for the wife. I am very impressed with the RMX.

I have it set up as a stand alone, if you will. I have my notebook, RMX, and two powered Yamaha MSR-400s, a 10x10 projection screen, 2300 lumens projector...and there ya have a read-made video party!

I have noticed however...there the volume level is real touch at first when I initially hook up the RMX. I don't quite understand it....but I'm trying to narrow this down and will be in touch with their tech department soon.

The feel of the system is very sturdy...much better feeling than the TC and the RMX is working great with my video work. Nice and smooth with my video transitions.

I've not toyed with the VCI Controllers...but man.....did I consider picking up the VCI-300.

They got it right this time round. Looking at the toy before it, the difference is huge.

i've been using the RMX for about 3 months and have found it to be more than reliable. I have it set up to work exactly as i need and have used it quite capably in club gigs.

I was a very happy user of Hercules MK2 for 18 months and last week switched to the RMX. It's a completely different machine and to be honest I bought it just for the self respect (the MK2 does look like a toy) but it surprised me with it's potential.

You get a comparable amount of pots, faders and buttons next to the Vestax.

But you have to compare them correctly: the $500 VCI100 compares to the $300 Dj Control Steel and the $900 VCI300 compares to the $350 Dj Console RMX (these last 2 are the ones with sound card)

The components may not be as good as the Vestax (time will tell there, too soon to know).

Vestax has way better Jog Wheels by far and Level meters.

But the Hercules RMX has 2 inputs for CDs or Turntables (with ground posts) so you can use it for Serato or Traktor Scratch vynil and CDs. The Vestax VCI300 can't.

In my case it was an issue of Hercules at $350 (with sound card to output to 2 channels of my external mixer) versus no Vestax at all (too expensive for me).

Without the money issue I would have bought a VCI100 and Audio 8 card to get the 4 deck output to my external mixer.

I'd laugh someone out of a club if they walked in with a Hercules . Actually I did that already . I just have a problem using gear that's made by a company that makes webcams

Are you really calling my vci-100 a toy? In a place like this?
