Question on equipment/controllers?
Posted on: 07.06.2010 by Basil Kasperson
Ok Im a newbie to Dj'ing..I love the whole digital dj and controllers..I dont have any setup..to start off and practice should I go with a controller or should I get a couple of cheap cd decks and mixer? Oh and do you all have any reviews on the stanton scs3? Isnt the stanton scs3 similar to the vci-100/300 controller? Any advice/help/or thoughts on this would greatly be appreciated..Thanks

You can start practicing without spending any money. Download the demo of Traktor and use your keyboard and mouse to control it. An iPod touch/iPhone/iPad opens even more possibilities with the various apps out there. It only runs for 30 minutes at a time, but you can open it right back up. I did that for nearly a month.
thanks..i'll check it out..hey do you know what the difference is between vci-100se and vci-300?

I agree with photojojo about trying out the program, and getting a feel for it. You can also go to your local music store or ask any of your local DJs to try their setup, because one can only learn so much through reading. Then you can make an informed decision on whether you want to go controllerism, timecode, or analog.
