Mapping "layers" in Traktor with LED feedback
Mapping "layers" in Traktor with LED feedback Posted on: 30.07.2010 by Marlin Schimpf Hi everyoneI recently bought a Launchpad and I would like to use it in Traktor pro. But when I was making a mapping for my launchpad I discovered traktor stops playing for an instant and deforms the sound when I use a | |

All blends and inverts are switched off. And I believe I don't fully understand the function of control range. So can I solve this problem by adapting control range, blend and invert? |

Marlin Schimpf 03.08.2010 | I made a small example mapping of what I believe you meant. |

Using that with my nanokontrol and an audio 2, i believe its the perfect ultra portable 4 deck setup. |
Marlin Schimpf 31.07.2010 | Thank you for responding @space monkey: going Mac is a solution but a very expensive one. I'm just a college student. That's the reason why I was searching for an alternative solution. There are windows machines who can handle sms without crackles but they are very rare indeed. @st8updrew: I know, I know! 72 buttons should be able to satisfy a buttonfreak like me But I'm always searching for these little extras that make it even more fun! I've already made a mapping to control 4 decks in Traktor and it's working all fine. I was just trying to make the Launchpad my personal holy grail Maybe you can send me your mapping and I send you mine. I'm always happy to get new insights in the art of mapping |
Branden Wentler 31.07.2010 | It's more a PC issue. I have yet to see ANY windows machine handle sms commands for LED updates via midi w/o pops and crackles. It'll be interesting to see how NI's upcoming controller handles this well-known and heretofore unaddressed issue. An alternative for sms is to use modifiers BUT after about 4-6 LEDs per modifier you start to get the same audio distortion, as well as quickly run out of modifiers. I am not optimistic about this issue getting resolved. You could go Mac though... |
Graham Frazier 30.07.2010 | I'm not sure that you can do this with using the "Send Monitor State", but i could be wrong. What i'm really wondering is, do you really need a second layer with the launchpad? I mean 72 buttons is a lot. I use mine for control over 4 decks and probably would get confused if i had a second layer. But at the same time i can see where this could open up a lot of possibilities. I'll mess around with this later today and see if i can come up with something. |
