Another AA vms4 thread?

I'm just curious to if anyone has actually purchased or used one of these? Thursday is the day I switch from cdjs to digital and am between the vci100se and tehe 4 channel vms4. The vms4 in its current state has so many things I want to do in a custom mapping and was also wondering if anyone had purchased and mapped one of these, and could assist me in choosing/mapping

Hi, i'm new to this community and equally anticipating the release on this beast, but the important things to me would be the sound and build quality. I was just about to order reloop's Digital Jockey 2 controller edition with NI's Audio Dj 2 as apposed to the Interface edition because the of the advice i was given on the sound quality. I'm glad i didn't as i just clocked this video on youtube for the vms4:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZx_Xx45NlQ

The vms4 does look pretty good to me but i would be concerned how the souncard performs. The jogs seem to be very responsive but i believe they look a bit cheap compared to reloop's and vestax's offerings. I have found one uk retailer (link below)with an expected delivery for 19/04/10 at around

I'm really interested to see how well the soundcard performs in comparison to other options.

I see the 4 deck options on this as something no other controller in it's price range currently offers, and that's pretty amazing. I could see some guys going nuts for it. But then again, I want to make sure I'm purchasing something that will hold up to long term semi-hardcore use, and that's where I worry about AA products.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out. I myself am waiting a couple months to hear back on how this compares to other controllers out there.
Yes the old adage, "if it sounds to good to be true, then it is too good to be true".
Which is why I'd be more comfortable paying the $700 price than the $500 price oddly enough. even then it seems too good.

Usually I don't have the $ to buy what I want. This time I have more than double the $ (IN CASH) but what I want doesn't exist yet.

Has anyone else noticed the crooked Knobs on the left Pitch Fader and on the 1st and 3rd midilog channel volumes?

If it comes out in April I might reconsider the VCI, seriously that much time would kill me... (after I postponed getting it for X-Mas)

Yes that would be me. I've already got mods planned out for this sucker, as well as a new mapping.
Lets start a support group, add it to your signature. seriously we could get a mini community going inside djtt haha

Here's the Pro Audio Star rundown on this product:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LufGPR8th4

And my blog post with a more in depth take:

http://www.proaudiostar.com/american-audio-vms4-video

I've been told the fader is going to be upgradable to eliminate the gap in the fader curve. Even with the small gap I was able to cut a little bit on this thing and it didn't feel all that terrible. I can't agree with Ean's review that it's too heavy to lug around but perhaps that comes from being a turntable guy as anything beats lugging those. I believe if people get behind this controller and sort out the Traktor mapping it could be pretty capable. Maybe a good look for VDJ users too since it's built around that software. I'm a Serato/turntable guy though so take that as you will!

[Quality will be the Issue. But im sure the DJTT community will quickly make a good decision on this product once they get there hands on one. I base all my decisions on gear from this site and the community s hehe[/QUOTE]

You never know man, it seems like that they are going down the right route tho, I'm after hearing that they will be offering overlays, this is even before the product is released. I believe overlays and advanced mappings are something that every company should really consider now a-days. This, combined with the fact that its four decks and a low price....I hope its not too good to be true.

Its NOT out yet, I emailed AA.
They also have some promising skin stuff going on.
It single handedly totally swayed me away from the vci100SE.
Looking forward to possibly owning one of these soon....

you couldnt just make a fader send out a note at the end of its length like the vci100 se does with the 1.3 firmware.
you'd have to make it behave like this with a program like bome's midi translator.

...you could do your own vci100-se a-like mapping (well, except for the super-faders, that send out a different midi value at the end)

that thing isnt even out yet afaik. most european stores list march 25 as the release date. so i guess you wont get any info yet.
of course you can map it just like any other midi controller out there. so theoretically you could do your own vci100-se a-like mapping (well, except for the super-faders, that send out a different midi value at the end), but keep in mind that it's gonna take a lot of time and trial and error to get there.
the big advantage of the vci100 is that it already has a huge community behind it.
