Novation launchpad vs akai mpd26?
Posted on: 16.09.2010 by Hanna Ridenbaugh
Hi folks

I need a bit of advice. I'm currently mixing with 2 decks using an otus, lpd8 and korg nanokontrol. I feel now I am ready to go up to 4 decks as i want samples n loads of cue point juggling as I don't have enough buttons for cue points now for 4 decks. I only like using a single layer on either the nanokontrol and lpd8 to keep it simple.

I want to replace either one of these with the mpd26 or launchpad. they are both similar price but I have had no experiance with either. Which would you choose and why?

thanks for your help.

I love djranking s. all of you have helped me so much. thanks again.

Uhhh, i use an Asus with windows 7.
What kind of mapping did you need, there's a really good 4 deck one here...

I have a generic version of a dual midifighter mapping that i'll be posting in the mappings sections soon.

Also, with all of the LED feedback on the LP, there is a chance you might get the dreaded windows glitches when using. But have no fear, i've been working on a fix for that, and i'm having great results. Here's the thread for the beta version...

the download link is on page 3... i believe.

thanks

I did not know about the 2 extra encoders on the mpd24. I am swaying towards the launchpad.

mpd24 is probably better than the mpd26 due to the extra 2 encoders, though I have heard of people having problems getting windows to recognise the thing even though it is supposedly plug and play.

It sounds like you'd be better off with the launchpad since you don't need any faders or pots if you're just using it for cues and such.

edit: + led feedback is sexy stuff.
