Crane Stand - Super bouncy
Posted on: 23.09.2010 by Hang Natelli
Hi guys,

Just received my new Crane laptop stand in the mail, and I have to say, I am quite disappointed with it lack of shock resistance. Bottom line is, it's bouncy as hell, and I'm literately getting dizzy just typing this post of it (I'm using a 13" MacBook Pro).

Like, very light tapping on the keys makes this thing bounce. I was just expecting something a lot more solid than it looks.

But on the plus, it looks and feels very solid in terms of its user durability.

Ah I guess to make it mobile you could drill a larger outer hole with enough room to fit a wingnut so it doesnt hit anything outside of the hole

I like the stanton uberstands myself, not nearly as bouncy and easy to carry. But with any truly portable stand there's likely to be some bounce, depending how aggressive you are on whatever's on top of it.

I also have a griffin stand - super cheap and no bounce, but it's half the height of the stantons.

Think i'll work off your model of construction but make it into an assembly for easy packing

I also have a crane stand.. and the same issues were there when I used the laptop... now I just have a KP3 on it and the bouncing doesnt bother me so much. The thing I really hate about the crane stand.... is their classic SCARE tactics they desperately use to market their product. Their facebook page just has endless links of deformed wrists from carpal tunnel victoms and how the workplace is turning the human race into TREX stylized arms and so forth. But seriously I do like how it folds up nice... and the spacing is just perfect for the KP3 or a Kaossilator Pro.. volume knobs fit right between the grooves.. And it is REALLY lightweight... unlike my arnold pumping iron Oddessy dj laptop stand
