Will I be okay to purchase a higher end Ultrasone Headphones for DJing? Posted on: 11.10.2010 by Shane Henz Hello,I'm ready to make a purchase on DJ Headphones. I've considered the Sony 7506 as well as the Sennheiser HD25 II's. But I'm looking for newer technology and really like the hardcase (for travel) that the Ultrasone DJ1 Pro's (and their Pro line) come in. I understand that the DJ1 and PRO 550 are identical except for color (correct me if I'm wrong), but I've decided that if I'm going to spend that much I might as well get higher end set for example the PRO 900 or maybe the PRO 750. Does anyone believe that this would be a bad move? I'm new to DJing but I do digital recording with Pro Tools, Ableton, Reason, Omnisphere, Access Virus, etc and I could use it in the studio as well. BUT, the main reason I'm making a headphone purchase is to use with my new NI S4. Will the higher end line be okay to use instead of their dedicated "DJ" line? I'm looking at the PRO 900 specifically, and possibly the PRO 750 or 550. Thanks for any input you may have. I've attached the technical specification differences as well. | |

| Arcelia Siebeneck 12.10.2010 | Ultrasone's are famous for 'colouring' the sound - ie they make everything sound 'good'... probably okay for use in a club, but just be aware that they're not exactly 'monitoring' headphones... more 'hi-fi' imo edit: ah wait, you're a producer as well? Go for the BeherDynamic DT990's or equivalent... I use 'em for Traktor and Cubase/Live.. works for me |

| Shane Henz 11.10.2010 | Good point. I'm not performing now so it isn't an immediate issue, however, it will still be the cheapest thing used when performing... compared to the MBP, Maschine, Virus, or S4... Thanks for the input. |
| Graham Frazier 11.10.2010 | I believe they will do fine. I use a pair of Sony MDR-SA5000's and those are pretty much in the same category as the high end Ultrasone's. The only thing is, do you really want to bring such expensive gear with you to every gig. I've been debating getting a pair of cheaper gig phones for a little while now. |
