so seeing how i want to step up my game a little bit im planning on getting a really cool set up(IMO)

1 Kontrol S4
1 Kontrol X1
&
1 NI Machine

im planning to use it all for traktor

but my question is
is all of that overkill?
cuz to me, the mor buttons, knobs, sliders, etc the better

Blasphemy! there is no such thing as control overkill haha. I agree with the rest regarding maschine.

Maschine is a full production unit. Only using it in Traktor is a waste of about 80% of it's functionality. If you want buttons and knobs go for an APC, MPD, or something along those lines. If you want to make beats from scratch though get the Maschine.

if you only use the maschine as a midi controller, get yourself something like mpd32 (or smthg else). it's way cheaper and does the same thing..
