Midi-Fighter or Oxygen 8V2

Hey Guys,

This is going to be my very first controller and I've never really gotten into DJing before. I'm still fiddling around with the Traktor demo, so I hope to get Traktor Pro in the next couple of weeks with my first controller.

If I'm only going to get a single controller which do you guys believe would be better the Oxygen 8 v2 or the Midi-Fighter?

Thanks!

Theory28 has an extremely valid point. I am new to DJ'ing as well and for other beginners I would 100% of the time suggest pick up something with jog wheels / EQ knobs. Especially if you plan on spinning any hip hop at all. Using ONE Midi-Fighter is simply not viable.

In the end though, i'd simply drive down to the closest music store (i.e. Guitar Center) and then try out all the different options before purchasing anything, especially purchasing shit online since it's a hassle to return.

Anyway welcome to the world of DJ'ing! I hope you find what you're looking for!

yup, ean was using an oxygen 8 at first.

but now he's using two midi fighters along with a mixer.

so a single midifighter would result in a major headache when you map it for 2 decks and still have to use a mouse for volume

theory28 has a point, there are no volume controls or anything. Ean rocked an Oxygen I believe, but he was also using the mixers in clubs for EQ/volume.

well, using the oxygen 8 and/ or a MF is a weird way to start djing.

i would recommend something that has jog wheels and an EQ as a first controller.

I just got a midi fighter (as a second controller, I already had a Hercules DJ Control Steel). It's a phenomenal piece of kit, but it wouldn't make a flexible primary controller. The Oxygen 8 is really nice - I believe you'll appreciate the variety of controls. It should be well-suited to a bunch of different mappings. Maybe pick up a midi-fighter later on as an extension to your setup, it's pretty awesome.
