$700 budget mixer recommendations
Posted on: 29.12.2010 by Gilma Marchini
Looking for an analogue mixer, my budget is $700ish. Any recommendations? Requirements are fx send/return with gain, likes are more than 2 channels (not necessary), and my style is y-cadets and house music (no scratching).

Current Dn-x600 and ecler nuo 2.0 are my two choices, looking to not go too far past 700. Rane's 56 seemed too hip-hop/scratch for me. Any thoughts?

Edit: Nuo 3.0, my bad, on iphone ;D

Indeed. How is the xone 42 so cheap on there? Even with conversion that's like $710, it retails $900 over here... O.o

I have not used or compared the built in sound cards. But, like most built in effects on entry level units...they are after thoughts to tick some box that marketing or sales really wanted ticked.

I will probably stick with external cards for the time being. For $100, the NI Audio 2 card will be hard to beat.

Agreed...if you can find a nice clean used mixer by AH, Ecler or Rane you'd be good to go.

I use the Denon X500, and Vestax 004xl. Both are 4 channels, and well under your budget. I have not seen the Ecler in person, so it is difficult to recommend for or against.

Based on my experience with Denon, I can recommend the X600.

After some deep thought and skipping stones in ponds I just ordered the Ecler Nuo 3.0. It haves all the controls I need, the Fx send and Returns I need, and If I ever need more than 2 channels the 3rd would be all I need.

The Xone:42 was a good thought, but size, features, and several other things were just overkill (for a home setup even the sound quality is overkill). Thanks for all the input everyone ^.^

finance it they have 18 months no interest right now.

Maybe do a bit more homework on denon. I had a DNX300 and my eq faders wouldn't work properly, I had to take the thing apart and resolder it. Also the faders would bleed all the time and I would need to clean them frequently.

If you want it def go for it but be aware of potential issues. I believe I'd get a DDM4000 over the DN X600. Add a soundcard and you are golden...Read this:

I'm going to get the DN-X600. Simply because it's newer than most of the mixers and I would like to try the midi functionality to mix video in a separate application alongside Traktor. I'll make a new thread for any interesting results ^.^

Aiming to use launchpad for triggering next vid, and mixing/FX with the mixer

I have a KP3, so lack of FX aren't that big of a deal, although they aren't a bother. Really digging the idea of the DN-X600, might pick that up O.o
