I really want to take this djing pretty serious now that i have a lot of down town. It's something I always wanted to do. I was wondering if anyone has the best recomended gear and programs to make sum real good electro-house and deep house music for a beginer like me to play with. I've been hearing a lot about the new midifighter, but any help right now to get me started as soon as possible would be very much appreciated. | Irwin Ney 05.01.2011 | My Advice, start out DJing... Producing has a much higher learning curve and is a very lonely activity. You will sit hours and hours alone in front of your laptop experimenting with VSTs that you don't know what they do. If you are alredy a DJ when start producing, you will know more about music structure, effects, you will alredy had a style of music to focus and so on. Since you alredy have the hardware to DJ (don't know about your software, but I recommend traktor), I would leave producing by side some time... |

(and i have used VDJ for a verry short time) hardware: its up to what you want when you mix. im using a numark total control and its mapped to control all the effects, decks and faders i need. im also using a pair of novation dicers for cue points and faster access to decks c and d (when ever i get around to finishing that mapping) Production: this is where things get fuzzy and i start talking based on what ive heard. ableton live seems perfect. also, you can look into the native instruments maschine hardware/ software combo. the apc 20 and 40 look like they would be perfect for controlling whatever you might need as well and, should i ever dip into production, i can use my dicers almost like the pads an an apc or what have you and use the knobs and faders from my total control so, your dj set up can also be a makeshift production set up. |
