American Audio VMS4 vs Reloop DJ2
American Audio VMS4 vs Reloop DJ2 Posted on: 05.01.2011 by Macie Shipp Hi everyone I am searching for any useful advice which could help me to choose between these 2 controllers: The VMS4 and the Digital Jockey 2 (Master or interface edition)My style: electro dance club tecno ... My experience: i have a crappy ibiza mixer a pretty good dual cd player which ive been using for about a year. I know the basics but i want to get into the digital DJing. Ive seen loads of videos on youtube of these two and i have alse read a lot of reviews but i really dont know.. Pros of VMS4 - I believe that it would be great that i could connect my dual cd player to this so i have 4 inputs (also the 4 deck mapping for traktor for the VMS4 is confusing and i have not found anything which suits my style so i will make my own mapping i believe but i dont know anything about mapping but i am quite good at these things so i believe that in a month after buying it i could already start to use the 80% of the buttons.). - 2 Mic inputs - the soundcard is 16bit/48khz i believe but my friends said me it sounds nearly a Pionner CDJ400. so bad soundcard but apparently good sound.. - no kill buttons??! but i could map them ofc.. - I like the layout - as it is new it is more likely to have updates Pros of Reloop DJ2 interface edition - comes with traktor LE and is Traktor ready => built mainly for traktor. - it has been out for a while so there arent so many bugs like on the VMS4. - no need to make my own mapping, i would just take one and change some things but not everything. - interface edition is 40Euros cheaper than VMS4, Master edition is 20 euros more expensive than VMS4.. - i dont know if i can connect my dual cd player to this.. These are the features i like about both of them but i know the specs of both nearly by heart x) some ppl will certainly say to buy the vestax VCI 100 but i dont like the appearance and it seems like it is "outdated" ofc there is plenty of support here in DJTT but its been out for a long time and it has fewer buttons than both the Reloop and the AmericanAudio.. and i like to have many buttons to have more possibilities ! Im spanish so my english isnt that good! | |

Macie Shipp 06.01.2011 | in firt place i wanted to buy the VMS4 before but the thing which made me not to buy it was that it had 4 channels, but the 4 channel mapping was awful and i dont know much about mapping, but i believe it is not so difficult, also i program pc software so i suppose i can do that with some learning some questions about the VMS4 because many people talk about it without owning one . 1) Easy to use this set up, 2 CDJs + 2 channel on vms4? 2) have you mapped the mouse pad other than to choose song , like for the wet dry effect? or the touch sensitive "bands"? Because ive not seen anyone using.. if i buy it i would certainly use every single button i can 3) there are constant firmware updates right? 4) if you use traktor, have you already done your 4deck mapping? |
Arie Floro 06.01.2011 | Cant say anything about reloop controller, but i own vms4 and everything is great : layout is crazy, ton of knobs and buttons, 4 channels (1 of them i use for Korg kaossilator) nice jogweels (i do not scratch, so i cant judge it's scratch capabilities), sound quality is ok, but if u dont like it you always can buy Audio Dj 2 . so everything is great except 1 thing : knobs an buttons quality, knobs are wobbly and 1 of my buttons is very close to death :S So add 200 $ and buy DN-MC6000 or if you already have a mixer try 2 DN-SC2000 s |
Macie Shipp 05.01.2011 | so anyone might help me to choose between these two? i do not own any DJ software, only a dual cd player and a mixer both analog |
Macie Shipp 05.01.2011 | yes, i had a look a it but the problem is where to get it here in belgium/europe... and the price is out of my budget for the moment. Also i dont like that its made of plastic, if i could i would buy a vci 100SE mk1 thanks for replying ! |

If I had to choose from the two you mentioned I would go with the reloop and not the American Audio just for a matter of trust in the global quality of the product. I personally and subjectively believe that AA products when it comes to djing are just a joke. Now that must be replaced within the price points they offer but still... |
