Loria Capwell 19.01.2011 | Thanks for all your help guys Me and my brother are going to buy the Hercules MK4, its small and it does everything we need plus it has a built in sound card! Just needa buy the extras... |
Teresia Janusch 18.01.2011 | firstly, none of those are decks...... they are controllers... |
Charline Dye 18.01.2011 | I didn't check the specs on the units you listed, but if they don't have an internal sound card, you will need an external one. The Numark DJ i/O is a good cheap one, or the Maya 44. For a little more the Native Instruments Audio DJ2 is very good. |
Tatum Ansaldo 18.01.2011 | Don't be intimidated by the number of controls on the steel. There are a few people on here who've just started DJing by buying an NI Kontrol S4 which is even more complicated! You'll get the hang of the controller itself in no time and I'm sure you'll enjoy the results. I made the mistake of buying something cheap and small to start with and I got rid of it after about 3 months. |
Charline Dye 18.01.2011 | You did nothing wrong, and pissed no one off! This community IS NOT like some others where guys will rant and flame you. The other posters were just poking a little fun. I also wouldn't worry about what you get being too complex, the controller is probably the easiest thing to learn in digital DJ'n. Once you get into things there's midi mapping, customizing, and an additional controller. That's just on the hardware side of things. Learning song structure, phrasing, bars and beats, keys and mixing harmonically, song selection, etc. will take you longer to perfect than any controller. Like I said before, if you stick with it the controller will eventually get tossed for something better, but the other stuff (song structure, etc) will stay with you no matter what you use to make it happen. |
Loria Capwell 17.01.2011 | Sorry if i pissed anyone off, i didnt know my name would cause this much trouble. I just carried it from randomcommunity title... Im pretty new here, im just trying to get some advice. Thanks guys I was going to go for the steel but i guess that might be too professional ie too complicated.... I just dont want to get something that will baffle me and make me feel like a failure, but i dont want to waste my money on something then find its limited.... :| I dont know, ill read up on all the decks and compare them. Thanks for the advice, this websites pretty damn good... |

Charline Dye 17.01.2011 | Ok i'll clue you in on what they are "on" about. Deadmau5 has lost a lot of respect for some things he ranted about, and in general his bad attitude. No one is being mean, they are just saying with that name, and your obvious like for the mau5, someone will probably hijack the thread to rant about Deadmau5. Back on topic.... What ever controller you choose, you will eventually upgrade to something else if you stick with it. So don't stress too much about which one, just do some research (product reviews from reliable sources, feature comparisons, etc) and pick one. If you are just starting to learn DJing, you have alot more to learn than just how to work the controller. Anyway, don't let the lite hearted fun these guys are throwing at your name, get your knickers in a twist. This is a very good community for controllerism/Digital Jockeying with a lot of helpful and whacky folks. I give you cudo's for posting your thread in the right community and not general discussion! Welcome |
