Best way to set up monitors
Best way to set up monitors Posted on: 04.03.2013 by Elvis Woodis Just bought a pair of M-Audio BX8 D2's and just wondering what's the best way to set them up to my Macbook Pro. I'm going to buy a pair of XLR cables to connect to my 4Trak, but how do I connect them to the Mac? Is it easier to connect through 4Trak and use the 4Trak soundcard? Suggestions welcome. Thanks | |

Alphonso Deitchman 04.03.2013 | Looks good yeah, there's a chance you might need a TRS extension for the Macbook connection if your monitors are placed far apart and/or the cable doesn't split all the way down. |
Elvis Woodis 04.03.2013 | So I need... 1x http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5mm-Ster...item1c29e83e5b (For monitors to macbook) 2x http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XLR-3-Pin-...item1c2b681cfc (For monitors to Numark 4Trak) |

Alphonso Deitchman 04.03.2013 | Ah ok sorry, for some reason I thought you had Rokit 8s. You'll need a 3.5mm to 2x6.35mm cable like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg |
Elvis Woodis 04.03.2013 | Makar, The M-Audio BX8 don't have RCA inputs, just XLR or TRS. I believe. |
Alphonso Deitchman 04.03.2013 | XLR to XLR is safest as it avoids any connection confusion, and is more secure/durable than TRS. |
Elvis Woodis 04.03.2013 | Also, Is it best to do XLR female to male, or XLR female to TRS jack? |
Alphonso Deitchman 04.03.2013 | You'd need a 3.5mm to RCA cable like this: http://www.photoshoponline.co.uk/ekm...-jack-58-p.jpg Make sure it has enough length and can be split down the middle to let you send the left/right connections to each monitor. |
Elvis Woodis 04.03.2013 | Thanks Makar1, And if I wasn't to use my 4Trak (space reasons). How would I set them up to my Macbook? |
Alphonso Deitchman 04.03.2013 | The 4TRAK sound card is likely better than the Macbook's built-in audio so that's probably the best way for you to connect your monitors. |
