Level Indicators/Gains in Kontrol S4
Level Indicators/Gains in Kontrol S4 Posted on: 11.02.2011 by Harlan Longenbach I unboxed my S4 last evening
and put a couple hours into playing around with it. I love the machine as a whole, it has great features and I believe the build quality is really good. However, I'm really struggling with the gains and LED level indicators. I don't know why the gains were built how they are, they should be the same as the EQs. I'm going to play with sensitivity and possibly remapping them to another knob toevening to see if it helps. The LED level indicators are the big negative for me, they are pretty much useless in my opinion. The blue is so bright it bleeds to the next rectangle and you can't really see where your level is accurately, then you're in the red without even knowing you were close to it. It was really frustrating even the short time I used it last evening . I tried to open the on-screen software indicator but it's also all blue and doesn't really give anymore information. Perhaps an on-screen green/yellow/red indicator would help this issue? Unfortunately this might be a deal breaker for me and I may return the unit, which sucks because I love everything else. Levels are a pretty important part of a fully integrated mixer/controller. If I could route to 2-channels of audio to a main mixer I would do that, but from what I've seen it's not an option. Any other suggestions? | |

Harley Hendzel 11.02.2011 | Workaround for the gain gripe. in the deck heading in options, add the gain view to the bottom row. a quick glance and you will know what the gains are set at for each deck. |
