Need Modding Adivce) Hercules MP3 E2 Jogwheels
Need Modding Adivce) Hercules MP3 E2 Jogwheels Posted on: 07.02.2011 by Franklin Momany Hello everyone,I just have a quick modding question about the Hercules Mp3 E2. I'm wanting to do a custom paint job and add some leds but I can't figure out how the Jogwheels can be removed. They have that soft rubbery stuff covering the top and there aren't any screw holes underneath the console that look like they would be holding the Jogs on. On a side note, wtf? Hercules makes a look alike MP3 E2 with a soundcard built in? Many thanks, Digi | |

News to me, I've contacted Hercules about that LED in the pic above. If I find the output note I'll post it. |

But I'm kinda afraid to pop it off And of course I get it all apart, and my cam is dead. Sorry can't post pics, maybe later . |

Franklin Momany 13.02.2011 | What I thought was the end was only the beginning of another issue. Since I hadn't planned on putting 10 coats of paint -.-. The buttons are sticking really bad. I've scrapped all the holes out carefully with a razor. But since the buttons are not pushed straight up and down they are getting stuck lopsided (not pushing directly in the center). But for me to fix them I would have to damage the paint. Really regret doing this. I guess I'm getting that Mk4 I wanted. & |
Franklin Momany 12.02.2011 | Well I'm am done, I've had it. I'm covered in spray paint because of another unsuccessful design. Its gettin painted solid black and thats the end of it. |
Franklin Momany 12.02.2011 | Well shit, My first attempt failed pretty bad. I made a overlay of a wall of masking tape so I could just spray on my design. But I cut the masking tape on a wood board. So the tape didn't come off the cutting board in one piece (as it was layers of masking tape). I just bit my lip and slowly transferred it onto the Hercules face plate. After many coats and waiting for it to dry, I finally peeled off the tape to notice to spray paint bled. It wasn't clean at all and looked like ass because the button got in the way of the design. I guess between all the removing form the cutting board the tape wasn't as sticky. So I have decided to re paint it and go with a simple stipe design of some sort. I know I'm going to have to individually cut of the paint for the buttons as all the coats are going to cause issues. I should have just painted it all black and just said F it lol. I've ordered some standalone LEDs. The Hercules can barely power the ones it already uses. I'm going to implement them later as my GED test is in two days and I need to study. |

Tesha Pensyl 10.02.2011 | okay, i went to the guitar center and bought an x1 (dammit ni!) but anyway, i looked at the mp3 and realized it doesn't have those magnets for torque adjustments. i'd only go through with what you're planning to do if you're patient enough to work with those pins and get them back on there. |
Tesha Pensyl 09.02.2011 | well i tried, but got annoyed quickly. it was like 4am and i just wanted to be done with it. haha i've since taken it apart several more times and not having to remove those pins every time is kinda nice, so i dont really mind. haha i saw that as well, apparently the clocks are off because it happened to me earlier as well. apparently the server's been weird lately. |

Tesha Pensyl 09.02.2011 | if you have a webcam, and you could photograph the under-side of the controller, that would probably make it more clear. |

Celsa Courtemanche 07.02.2011 | You will need to open the bottom to get access to the jog wheel installation. It is the custom at Hercules to have a controller with soundcard and one without based on the similar configuration (Rmx and Steel, MK2 and original MP3). If you believe about it, it's a nice way to do things since the development is already done for one, so it's not too hard to simply remove the soundcard. |
