High cpu usage... help!!
Posted on: 24.02.2011 by Lavona Pers
Hi, just bought myself a Stanton scs3 system running TPro using a numark DJio soundcard.

AMD Turion X2 Processor 4gb Ram windows vista home premium 32bit op system 2.0 ghz.

I'm going into the red quite often-sound glitches, then laptop crashes! I have played with the latency, but no joy, tried different usb ports. I've updated all drivers turned off Norton anti virus and internet.
I have also tried a numark omni control this also does the same high cpu etc.. All hardware is brand new, all software is current. I am not a computer buff and really don't know what to do or where to start. Plus i've got a gig this coming Saturday..24/02/2011 and am getting very worried.

(RE format the hardrive???)

Please remember i am a beginner, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Rastey

Im using vista without any hitches mainly because i spent weeks deleting crap and turning off various things i didn't need.

For the PC Decrapifier i used the 2.2.5 release deleted windows messenger, anti virus, Adobe ect.....

Try running Latencymon (http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon). It can help track down where the problems are coming from.

Sense your on a tight deadline I'm just going to throw all this out there take of as you will. A Dual core processor at 2 ghz running 4 decks at 60 MS latency shouldn't be running higher than 60%.

A great spyware removal program, its free: http://www.superantispyware.com/

Wouldn't hurt to run CCleaner to get rid of those bad registries and temps files: http://www.piriform.com/

You can also click start>Run. Type in the box msconfig. Go to the start up tab and uncheck any non essentials. (Can also be done within CCleaner.)

Also do you get a blue screen of death at the crash or does it completely shut off? How old is your laptops battery?

I had issues like this before, my fix was to unistall Traktor. Find a completely different install file but the same version as to not screw up my mappings.

I've also had this happen when I had a corrupt usb hub driver in my device manager.

[click start>right click my computer>select device manager. in the new window look lokk any listings with a ! yellow triangle symbol nest to it. Roll back, disable or fix it by installing a new driver.]

Good luck, also 2/24 in USA EST would be yesterday/Thursday? Where do you live that would be a 2 day difference?
24th oops!! mate i'm gunna re format, seems the most sensible thing to do.. thanks for your advice and i live the uk. That would proberly explain my lack of brain function.

Try that mate i wouldnt be a tech head and it has done wonders for the net book im currently on. It seems simplistic to use. And could sort your problum getting rid of anything not needed.

Haven't used it on my gig machine yet though.

btw i found it on here.

Im also sure some great tech heads here will be able to sort your problem out. When they see this post.
Which link do i download, thanks ?

Tried this, but no good it did take the cpu down for a short while then after playing tune for about 1 min straight into the red thus stopping tuneage. But thanks anyway.
