Hercules RMX + Sauvignon Blanc = ?
Hercules RMX + Sauvignon Blanc = ? Posted on: 21.03.2011 by Melinda Shick So yeah, my girlfriend threw my robe across the room while she was cleaning, somehow managing to catapult a glass of wine about 2 feet right on to my controller. (Thank god it wasn't the Macbook or synths)I left it upside to drain, got the hairdryer on it - unfortunately i was unable to open it up (It's put together a bit too well). I also have something clinking around in there, i'm hoping this is just a piece of glass and not a broken component (I was gentle with it while trying to open). So, i know wine is sticky, so if i attempt to plug this in to see if it's working am i liable to fry it? And also, any other advice from anybody who's had simlar problems? I've had a whole pint spilled in my old laptop and it survived fine, but i'm apprehensive as right now the RMX is my only audio interface, i have other controllers but i can't spin without the RMX. | |

Melinda Shick 23.03.2011 | Okay thanks for the advice guys, it should definitely be dry by now (Didn't use rice, but it was hairdryered and has been in a box of tissue for 2 days). Gonna try it later toevening and see what the crack is...i'm hoping it isn't too bad, it was only a small glass of wine (125ml) and only a small amount actually got in to the case, so i just gotta hope none of the tracks got sticky and fucked. |

Ninfa Larranaga 21.03.2011 | put it in a bag of rice? |
Tesha Pensyl 21.03.2011 | the rmx is somewhat annoying to open up, but it can be done. you gotta remove all the screws, and remove the jogs by way of removing a small round locking pin off the post of the jog wheel. after pulling it out, you have to pry the metal top plate off of it. everything else is pretty much plastic and can easily be opened up. it's quite a tough little piece of shit so it should be alright. and yeah, i agree with the rice thing |
Random X 20.03.2011 | Sauvignon Blanc is my preferred white wine too. |
Louisa Oberc 20.03.2011 | .. I'm not a wine guy, but assuming sauvignon blanc is white wine, you would have much better chances rescuing it than if you spilled red wine... |
Carline Whichard 20.03.2011 | Had the same experience with APC 40 VS glass of Merlot fell on channel one volume fader. Needless to say its still broken. Tried to clean it with some spray cleaner for electronics but to no avail. I might have had better luck with some sake! i feel ya! |
Louisa Oberc 20.03.2011 | You should also visit an asian market, and pick up a large bag of regular every day rice... NOT MINUTE RICE... after you have 'dried it off' from its bath, put it in a container and cover it with the rice... THEN leave it for a week or two.... I have successfully revived a clients blackberry after he 'went swimming' with it in his pocket... Though with wine... I wouldn't get my hopes up... sorry man |
Shana Minsk 21.03.2011 | Yeah distilled water, and then just leave it to dry for at least a week. That's what I'd try, but I wouldn't be surprised if you had to buy a new controller. |
Random X 21.03.2011 | One of the better options was to first flush it clean with distilled water, than leave it out to dry. (Also, it might be wise to start saving up money for an Audio2DJ or something. |
