My custom S4 & Macbook Pro case .... Posted on: 02.05.2011 by Lizabeth Shindeldecker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpHQUolMOl0Sorry try this Hey all, Karlos Santos is one of my pals from where I live and he suggested i post this up. Something i have been working on for a bit. A custom case that although bulky and heavy ish, enables me to turn up to a gig, plug in 1 power and 1 x pair of phonos and Im good to go straight away. I have a large library so I boot up at home, as everything I need is connected in the case I can play almost srtaight away when I arrive and not have to rewire the inside of a nasa space ship / interupt the dj already playing. it houses a 17" MBP, 8Gb Ram, 750 int HD a 3Tb WD Goflex FW800 HD Power supplies Spare cables.... cd wallet.... headphones.... I built using some spare 11mm MDF I had around (I know its heavier but was available free of charge) and some bits like edging and corners that I bought from CPC Farnell In Preston UK. While its pretty easy to carry it is a bit on the bulky side but does what I need it to do. am considering putting trolley wheels in one end maybe.... Hope you like, if you want me to post dimensions and work in progress assembly pics I will be more than happy to do so. Keen to hear feedback... its still not 100% complete but getting there. Kristin Tesfamichael 09.05.2011 | very nice case. where can i find me some foam like that? |
Kandy Ahdoot 03.05.2011 | hey mate currently living in madrid for 8 more weeks then back in the sunny northwest for good, will be living in ormskirk (if you know it) until i find a new apartment/house. i aint been preston in ages, how is the scene there now? southport is gash has 1 goodish evening spot and they have the same dj all the time so its hard to get a slot, every other bar or "club" is top 40 tho i am gonna look at putting a evening on once a month somewhere in southport as there is a demand for good music places just dont play it so when i am back gonna be looking more preston/liverpool/manchester as itching to play out and i dont use an s4 i use an ipad2 controllers and mixer but a local meet up would be sweet there are a few of us from the NW on the board. |
Lizabeth Shindeldecker 02.05.2011 | Thanks buddy, I see your pretty local in Souhtport? Karl and I were gonna try a jam evening
with around 6 other local S4 users, just for a crack like to see if we could sync a few A mate and I hooked 2 up last evening at a bar in Preston called Glovers, and did from 10pm til 4am just to try it out. Good laugh. Perhaps Karlos and I should set up a local "meet" for like minded tech junkies to have a beer or two? |
Kandy Ahdoot 02.05.2011 | that's pretty awesome good work |
Lizabeth Shindeldecker 02.05.2011 | The PVC on top isn't normally bubbled, I keep this in cool place most of the time but videod this in my conservatory, and it's like 24 degrees today. If I did again, would prob make with 7 or 9mm painted mdf not the 11mm I had on hand for this. The finish looks sweet when no bubbles but treated mdf would give a similar look. It's been a learning curve and been fun to make, my mrs is happy now she has her conservatory back - no longer makeshift workshop There's spare cables and stuff stored away Under the s4 too And the only glued foam is round the edges, all the other stuff if cut to size and sits happily in place as is. I can re org if I ever need to. Just need a grill on the vents at the back and some nice subtle Djtt stickers to finish |
