You could buy another midi to USB lead, snip the midi connectors off and connect the wires to save a few pennies (seeing as a pair of midi to midi adapters cost more than the USB to midi lead). I thought about it but it would only save

i already have touchOSC and i know how midi works
you don't need to hack the camera kit

TouchOSC supports coremidi (along with many other apps) through the camera kit with midi cables i have set this up before i just want to cut back on the amount of wires i.e by swapping out 2 for 1 and swapping out the midi ends for another usb cable

i guess i will just go for it when i get back home

Camera Kit doesn't work that way... unless you are doing some severe hackery with a custom firmware...

If you want to use the iPad to do some kind of MIDI control, then you want TouchOSC my friend.

Dubspot did a series of videos on setting it up...

o yeah i have all my music/midi apps set up over wifi/adhoc network and they work flawless no latency, its just i would prefer a cable connected (that's just me)

tbh i have no idea. Can't you send midi over wifi with the iPad?

so it will still work if i switch the side out of a usb?

as i want to connect this to my ipad (via camera kit) and the only other way of doing it is getting 2 of these and 2 female midi connecters or a midi interface, and this is the cheaper option .

pretty sure those don't actually translate anything to midi, it's just a hardware interface. So if youi switched the midi side for usb, you'd have a USB to USB cable.
