Should I upgrade to digital vinyl?
Posted on: 22.06.2011 by Irina Feldstein
I'm Currently using a Numark Omni Controller with Traktor Pro and I'm fairly new to the scene. I've been looking in to Traktor scratch and serato scratch and a few friends have recommended upgrading. Also if i did, could i use the omni control as a mixer?

I was considering 1200s/1210s with maybe a pioneer djm 350 and traktor scratch pro 2.
Would love some help with this because its a good bit of cash to spend.

cheers.

Their value is higher than that, but when it's local collection only the buyer base is much more limited than normal. I'd still be expecting a good pair of Techs to fetch

Can't wait for them to arrive! Anyone know if the traktor scratch packages come with enough cables? Asked NI and they said it came with 6 RCA, no more multicables?

if it's 2 channel you're after, I'd also really recommend the Ecler NUO 2.0 (differet from the 2)

The zone 22 looks good and it's not too expensive. I don't need too many features because I'll probably get an x1 for traktor

Don't go for the 600, you'd be better off with a Xone I reckon. I have an 800 and like it a lot, still have a 600 lying around but it's totally outstripped features wise by the 700 and 800.

I got a pair of 1200s for just over 300, in excellent condition. Was looking at the Allen and Heath xone range or maybe a djm 600/700, any thoughts or tips?

Worth = What someone will pay

I know plenty of ppl willing to pay 300euro each for Technics ..

I bought one for 80 Euro a year or two ago, didn't use it, and sold it eventually for $120 in PWO, it had upgraded cables and Stanton 680 Cart/Stylus.

They are pretty hard to knacker in fairness with the majority of issues being.

a) Pitch Fader
b) Target Light
c) Tonearm top bearings (from being in a tight flightcase).
d) Tonearm Clip
e) RCA cables.

None of the above should cost more that $20 to fix on their own or less if you are handy with a soldering iron.

Hold off and you'll always find someone who needs or wants and willing to pay premium.

He can get a used A4, but he is still gonna need a Scratch license. ($400 for owners of NI's timecode capable soundcards or certified mixers)

Maybe get a used SDuo system, sell his Pro license on the side, pay the $80 for TSP2 or $50 for TSD2 and get a pair of control vinyls on the side. Seem like the cheapest route.

The audio 2 has no inputs. You'd need an audio 4/6/8/10
Irina Feldstein
23.06.2011
Thanks man, what soundcard should I get? It seems like you can only buy the software in packages including the soundcard. Does the audio 2 have enough inputs?
Lilliana Perris

Yes you will be able to use it as a mixer.
You will be mixing internally and the controller controls it.

You will have to have a NI Soundcard that is Traktor Scratch compliant and have a version of Traktor Scratch.

Then you input your TT's into the sound card and use your Timecode vinyls.

BOOM!
