Djing with APC 40
Djing with APC 40 Posted on: 02.08.2011 by Kandi Odom So i have the APC 40 in my wishlist but i was wondering if it is good as a ALL IN ONE controller on Ableton giving the facts the there's no way of controlling the EQ, and this is fundamental for djing. Thanks in advance for your replies!! Kandi Odom 05.08.2011 | @deevey Thx a lot am just waiting for my apc40 to arrive to start using your template!!!! The thing is that is a big change for me been used to turntables and cdj (no timecode or anything) and now wanting a full digital setup!!! that's why maybe the question was a little stupid and newbish!!!! But thank u all for the support!!!!!! |
Rolanda Clodfelder 05.08.2011 | You can have a look at my 4 deck + 4 sampler Ableton DJ template here if you want. It really needs midi stroke or midi-keystroke conventer(windows) for the quantize functions to work properly if you need them ..... http://www.djranking
s.com/community
/showthread.php?t=29570 Its set up with Bass / Gain up top as regular & mid/high on button press. Device control & FX are within a single macro pane so no need to switch them. Track Selection is set to show actual track playing, not just the channel. Quantize kicks in on sample channels (1/4) bend (0) and Tracks (1) .. also scene middle buttons are set at 0 - 1 - 1/8 respectivly. 8 FX per channnel and on the 4 Sampler decks (4 eq ch's corresponds to the sample decks as do the faders to keep levels the same if you are xfading between Sampler or FX and tracks. Sample Decks can be used as just FX decks with xfade between regular 4 ch and sampler/fx channels. Theres also PFL & master monitoring set up on the headphone encoder as well Full left = Cue only Full Right = Master Mix Full right + Cue = Master mix + Cue @ other posters, IMHO Device control is NOT an option if you want to kill bass on one channel and crank it on another like you would a normal DJ mixer .. this is how I have always DJ'd and why I mapped with bass/gain. The EQ 3 IMHO sounds pretty rough for DJ'ing, the one in the temp I have is a modified one from Tareith which sounds better. FX mostly from M-lovers with a few mods so that there's no change in sound when engaged / disengaged and no knobs turned. Might get you started |
Kandi Odom 03.08.2011 | Thanks guys for your reply's sorry if this was a stupid question!!!!!!!!! |
