XY Pad MidiFighter?

So, there is a new Korg NanoPAD out, and it has 16 buttons and a nice XY pad.

May I be crazy, but those buttons on top could be effects presets and the xy pad would be whatever. You guys believe this would make a nice midifighter clone?

If you can map the extra buttons at the top of the Nanopad then you could you could spice things up even more.

I would love to build one of these myself
I like that design

A possible workaround could be to mod a NanoPad (only the x-y stuff) and a NanoKontrol (for arcade buttons and eventually some extra faders/rotary pots to control fx dry/wet for exemple) in the same box.
I'm quite interested in this project, I believe I'll give a try.

i'd love a combo of arcade buttons and xy pad - tho the padone would be very cool as a drum programming interface. don't really see the need for an xy pad tho..... there again i'm a drummer so would rather tap fast than use a roll/flam thing on the xy pad.

The problem I see is that touchpad. . .I own 3 nanopads (v1), and they just were not as functional as they should have been.

the instant grat mapping is already pretty complicated - i wouldn't like to mod that to run on a controller that doesn't have 4 banks internally. you can just use software that sites inbetween the controller and traktor tho ofc.

no problem if you want to run the deckalized mapping or any other that doesn't need 4banks mode ofc.

Possible, but with limitations. Ever try duplicating the instant gratification mapping on the x1? You can only have two modifiers per control so it gets limited pretty quickly if you're using modifiers for banks in addition to their normal functionality.

I'm building my own iterations too...

First without xy pad but with some analogs

And second with nanopad 1 upgrading this one:

thats why wer are replacing the buttons and turning into a MF
Ralph Alderette
21.06.2011
the smaller buttons on top only change pages and what-not, can't be midi assignable.. SOMEONE CORRECT ME if I'm wrong..

In theory though, yeah it would work as a MF

i heard the pads on these suck.. and that the build quality is not up to par to its competition (Akai LPD8). plus, the pads aren't backlit..
idk... i've seen Korg PadKontrol's go for like $80 and those are pretty good.
