Looking for the MYSTERY controller
Posted on: 07.09.2011 by Veda Zarella
Good day DJTT

I'm looking for a controller that has the following capabilities:

- integrated soundcard
- useable for Ableton Live
- a 2 channel mixer and mappable to fully control Traktor

Am I looking for the impossible ?

I was believeing of an APC40 and a seperate soundcard but it just doesn't seem ideal to me ...

Any suggestions ?

Thank you all for the replies guys.
I don't really feel it for the Twitch somehow but I'll keep it in mind.

hmm.. twitch could be suitable because it does have 16 pads which the most i have ever seen on a controller

the livid ohm64 looks like it has a promising way to be setup with pretty much any software. go take a look.

Maschine is capable of controlling Ableton. look into the Ohm64 as well.
But you will not find anything with an integrated soundcard - that just doesn't exist

VCM600 + Soundcard if you really have the cash to splash (they have gone down in price massively!)

Twitch looks interesting for Ableton, but the macros knobs are just not gonna line up in relation to whats on screen, encoders = better IMHO.

Soft takeover is not something I want to be dealing with anytime, anyplace.

The APC is bloody great for Ableton, and almost nothing beats it for Ableton. but I'm honestly not feeling it for Traktor at all (trying a remap atm in case I get stuck)

Given a choice for an all rounder would honetly prefer to pay a lil extra for a VCM .. I just cant get one here

Twitch. Ableton scripts are on the way.

depends on what u mean by "useable for Ableton Live" as i presume that rules out any controllers that dont have a bunch of pads with led feedback.

apc40, twitch or novation zero sl mk2 would be my best guesses. lp is perfectly usable by itself in traktor if u dont mind using virtual faders on the pads tho.

nothing else really has enough pads i dont suppose. personally i'd be looking at more than one controller - something with pads and something with pots.

if u really need just a single controller then the apc has to be the best bet
