Travel speakers? Posted on: 08.10.2011 by Cliff Lohman So i believe im going to go with twitch for a controller i can carry when travelling..I am hoping to find Speakers that sound halfway decent that are travel friendly.. Any suggestions? I realize ill have to sacrifice sound quality and loudness compare to a real speaker system.. Any suggestions? I hate playing on headphones.. Im just used to using headphones to mix and not as main source of sound.. Thnx | |

Cliff Lohman 09.10.2011 | nice.. believe im going to go with these - for 100 bucks, cant go wrong.. thnx |
Dino Houghland 09.10.2011 | They are the companion 2. Nice and punchy loud enough for a motel. They do get a little muddy in the mix but do fine by me. My cabin mate let me use his, I went and bought a set when he went on vacation. |
Cliff Lohman 09.10.2011 | I believe u referred to the bose companion 2. I also see the bose musicmonitor which are tiny.. But 300 bucks.. Have u heard these by chance? |
Cliff Lohman 09.10.2011 | The genelecs do look nice but too expensive for risking travelling with.. They seem to be slightly bigger than those cakewalk speakers.. Any advice on the 1 speaker idea if i went with powered monitor? I cant believe of any reason why i couldnt get away with using a single monitor. As for the bose, do u know which model the 99 dollar ones are? I could def live with something like that.. I have bose systems for my home theatre and bedroom. In fact, i use my old computer bose system in bedroom (companion 3 i believe). Speaker size is TINY and they sound pretty good but they have a huge subwoofer piece. If the subwoofer wasnt there, that would be the perfect size. Thnx all |
Celestine Porebski 09.10.2011 | If you've got cash to burn look at Genelec 8020s. They are tiny and still sound awesome. Hefty pricetag, though. |
Dino Houghland 09.10.2011 | I travel a lot, often have limited space everywhere, currently using the Bose computer monitors. They make an even more travel friendly version, with a little case. The smaller of their computer offerings just didn't have enough punch on the kick drum, but the $99 ones do and fit nicely into a suitcase. |
Cliff Lohman 08.10.2011 | Thnx man - i didnt even believe to look at monitor-grade speakers as I figured theyd just be too big.. Having 2 of these may be a little too big/heavy to travel with.. But I'm believeing theres no reason I couldnt just use 1 of the speakers and route both my left/right channels into it with an adapter of some sort. You believe I'd have any issues doing that? I cant see why I'd NEED to use both of them.. obviously sound would be better with 2 speakers but I'm willing to sacrifice.. And if I'm doing a road trip in my car, I could then pack both of them. But keep it limited to 1 single speaker for air trips. |
Hanna Ridenbaugh 08.10.2011 | m audio av20? http://www.idjnow.com/StoreModules/P....aspx/PID=AV20 or Edirol MA-7a http://www.production-room.com/produ...dirol-ma-7abk/ |
Cliff Lohman 08.10.2011 | "get on an airplane" type small I guess I could manage something the size of a shoe box or 2 carton of cigarettes + kinda on the light side. Just something that sounds ok where you can get a feel for the bass via the speakers somewhat.. |
Inez Marcinik 08.10.2011 | how small are we talking? |
