Broken Down A&H Xone 4D - repairable?
Posted on: 25.10.2011 by Cristie Gabardi
I recently bought a 2nd hand Xone 4D, absolutely loved it.
Last friday, I was just playing with it at home when, after 2 hours of playing, I heard a small bang (like the sound when you turn on your mixer and your monitors are already on, but a bit louder) and it smelled a bit burnt.
It was completely dead after that.

Now, I don't have the original invoice, but I doubt it's younger than 1 year... Is there any way I can check this? By serial nr. or sumet?
If it's out of warranty, what could have gone wrong, is it repairable?

Since it's not really a cheap piece of kit and I only had it for little over a week, I really hope this can be fixed or replaced..
Any suggestion or help is much appreciated.

Are you in possession of a service manual? If so can you please upload here?
Thanks a lot

Well, I have detailed circuit diagrams of the 92 and 62, unfortunately not of the 4D. I'll email them if you believe it may help in some way - they're too big to upload here - just PM me.

Replace with a new one or take a multimeter and check the resistance (ohms) if it is infinity definitely is broken or just replaced it is very cheap

Just noticed you don't need a login to send a support ticket, my bad.
I'll mail them and see what they come up with..

Thanks for the help so far!

The thing with A&H Support is, they are so awesome you don't really need to do much research. You can email or call them. I've had some faulty gear before, called them up, explained the problem, and they immediately came up with solutions. Same if you go through their online support process. They are mega-efficient. On one occasion I sent my gear in and they fixed more than they had to, at no extra charge. On another they actually sent me the part and I fixed it myself, and they don't charge imaginary through-the-roof ripp-off prices like other brands either. uhum, like pioneer for instance.

Well, I do live in the UK, dunno where the OP is from. I sent my gear straight to them in Cornwall. But I saw they have registered Service Centres across UK and US - dunno if they even had that last time I had problems, or how efficient they are.

It sounds like something fried. Most likely the power adapter or something similar. May have been caused by incorrect power settings or faulty gear . You should try to collect some more information on it's warranty, whether it's still valid or not.

And in the event that it's not, there's no harm in opening it up. :P

Edit: hhhhhnnnnnngggggggggggg-
Destrukto, why do you ninja-post while I'm doing research for a reply? :U
