Android Tablet/IPad?
Posted on: 26.10.2011 by Gayla Vigneau
I am considering purchasing a tablet style computer.

Which has better apps for music, Ipad, or the Android OS tablets?

My current setup is:

Traktor 2 Pro
Ableton Live
Launchpad
nanoKontrol
Akai LPK25
Ion Discover Dj

Ok...another question then. Ipad Touch vs Ipod2? Asides screen size, what really is the difference? Most reviews seem to believe that the Ipad is an XL Ipod.

Comments?

Some applications do crash (1.0 versions normally fixed with an update but there are exceptions of course) on the iPad as well, nothing is perfect

I agree with Padi..I failed to mention that I got my android tab as a gift. If I had to pay, I'd get an ipad hands down. I have a bunch of issues with android 3.1 on my tab, the biggest being applications unexpectedly quitting.

You have some flash enabled browsers for the iPad, but none free. Personally, I don't believe flash support is needed as bad as it used to, but that might be just my browsing habits.

iPad completely. It's already utilizing core midi into some of its audio apps, and the wifi linking apps like touch osc, touchable, proremote, I could go on forever are amazing.

i believe the obvious choice is an ipad. just so many apps to choose from. i have and ipad and use it alot. i don't use touch osc because i can trust the wifi connection required. (tpro doesn't like it when my hp lappy has wifi turned on).

but its tons of fun to play with the korg, moog, and imaschine apps. djay is pretty cool too - just to sit on the couch and goof around.

that just my opinion

iPad + TouchOSC = Double Rainbow

TouchOSC also runs on Android, but I have no clue if they fixed the connectivity issues the app used to have.

DJing and producing.

What do want it for? DJing? I would say give it some more time, but if I had to choose it would be the iPad, simply because there's more and better apps on their store. In the future when the tablet market has matured I would buy an android - there will probably be better I/O support (the SDK is better for intergrating other hardware and most android hardware uses USB).
