Need some help in deciding on a controller(s) Posted on: 16.11.2011 by Les Tevebaugh Hey guys, been lurking here for a while, decided to register today.Ive been djing for about a year or so, just a bedroom dj with a few house parties under my belt. I started with a mixtrack, went to vinyl turntables, sold them and here i am. Im really torn between controllers. In one end, i would love to use the novation launchpad with this mapping - http://www.traktorbible.com/freaks/m...ew.aspx?id=169 and just use that and a mixer for my djing, but on the other hand, i really believe a midi controller (such as the xone: dx, or traktor s4) and something like the midifighter or novation launchpad (something for effects) would go well also. Im torn between these two decisions, i would like to stay around the 500$ range for the mixer (like the main controller) if i went the midifighter route, if there are any cheaper professional quality ones then please let me know! My main emphasis is to be able to do basic mixing, but at the same time, being able to spice it up with things that nobody has seen before in my area (near Toronto, Ontario, Canada) Any ideas guys!? TL;DR - Novation Launchpad + mixer setup or Traktor S2 (or xne dx or twitch, etc) and midifighter or launchpad.. Thanks so much! | |

| Chasidy Heckenbach 18.11.2011 | depends if u want jogs or not i guess... i have fun mixing with just one of my launchpads and djm101. i'll be getting a K2 as soon as they come out which will make a great setup along side a launchpad i reckon. if you went for a twitch then with the 2 sets of 4 banks of 8 pads u might not need the launchpad anyway since they total the same as a launchpad. if i had the cash and wanted an all in one controller then i'd be looking at either the twitch or vci400 probably. if u were going to mix internally a K2 and launchpad wouldn't be bad at all... or in fact any 2 out of twitch + K2 + launchpad depending on which gives u the controls u need. both the twitch and K2 have builtin sound. |
