Trying to think of something to add to my setup
Posted on: 27.11.2011 by Kesha Pietrak
So with Christmas coming up Im hoping to get some gift money and of course I want to spend it on something to add to my setup.

I was believeing something like an LPD8 or an X1, but Id like to hear some other recommendations and your opinions.
So what do you guys recommend? Im prob looking to spend about $100-$200 maybe a little more

Sweet.

Honestly, that's the reason I was always confused by midifighters. They seemed really cool as a thing

well I could use the midifighter mapping with the LPD8, I would just have to change the midi values to those of the midifighter in the software that comes with it. Also Id be able to do more with the LPD8 so thats why I prefer it, but if I ever find a midifighter used cheap Id probably buy it just to mess aroudn with bc they look way too fun to not have one

i intend to use the k2 quite differently to how u want to add a controller to use with your vci tho. i want to use it to give me full levels+eq+kills over 4 decks, the buttons for play/cue/sync/faderfx(on/off) for each deck and probably use the top encoders+button for dual duty between filters and tempo/pitch bend or something. not much left after that anyway
well for my purpose Id have things unmapped for sure, but if I were using it the way you plan on doing so then for sure I might not have enough.

Really leaning towards the X1 right now because it already comes with everything I need and then I can map sample decks to midi mode

depends on what u want to control i guess. sample decks/fx? an x1 would be great for that, tho for a bit more a K2 might be even better. u can't go wrong really with an lpd8, they're also uber cheap ofc. u could get a classic midi fighter - tho an X1/K2 would be more control for the money.

I know it just looks like something to mess around with, more of a toy than anything. I cant see my self using one at all when Im mixing, but i guess its all personal preference.
