Alla Bluemke 13.03.2013 | Haha. Yeah I realized it was scanning when I first got it, and let it sit for a few hours to find all my stuff! Well at least you got the remix done! |
Efrain Scharr 13.03.2013 | Nevermind... apparently the software was still scannong or something... didn't realize it. I was playing in Live the other day, but switched back to 8 to finish up a remix I had to do...so it never finished fully scanning... I feel stupid. Thanks for the help though Guiltyblade. Much appreciated! |
Alla Bluemke 13.03.2013 | Oh....doesn't it download from their servers or something? Mine were automatically there when I downloaded. Maybe re-download? Did you get standard, or suite or what? I found some located in my music folder under ableton for mac, at least my audio effects, and midi effects. |

Efrain Scharr 13.03.2013 | Anyone know where all my Live instruments, Live Audio Effects, and my Live Midi Effects may be? Do those need to be copied over from 8 or something? |
Delfina Suedmeyer 13.03.2013 | yes, been watching tutorials for the past two months or so. just beginning to put stuff together as im learning about effects , theory, and all that. looking at the review for push just seems like its going to make it so much easier hence, why im wondering if i should pick one up. the guitar center $100 off deal sounds worthwhile. |
Alla Bluemke 13.03.2013 | I will say its a lot easier to learn if you have a friend just sit down with you for literally like 2-3 hours and screw around making beats. It will suddenly be a lot easier to navigate and do things. I remember sitting there working with a buddy and had no idea there was a way to expand all my track windows open at the same time, he did it and my mind was blown. It was little things like that you may never learn without watching someone work. But as a begineer its fairly easy to use, easier then logic from my experience. Once you start you will be looking for loop, samples, and sounds like crazy! Also really like the look of the push as well but its a little out of my price range at the moment. May wait for the price to come down to earth a little. |
Geoffrey Sibilio 13.03.2013 | anyone preorder push and get a ship date. I preordered from guitar center and the website says it ships around mar 18. I was just on abletons sight and it says 12-16 weeks???? is that just because there were so many preorders or is that the initial release and guitar center is just wrong? |
Sylvia Greener 13.03.2013 | Music production is nothing you're a pro at in an afternoon and every music production has some kind of learning curve. That being said, Ableton Live is a very good way to start! It's a nice and easy-to-use piece of software. |
Monserrate Rupnow 13.03.2013 | It's definitely easy enough for beginners, probably one of the easiest DAWs to learn in fact. |
Delfina Suedmeyer 13.03.2013 | question: can a beginner of music production pick this up and learn ableton for the first time? or does it take an advanced to intermediate person who knows the software in and out to pick this up? watching the review, it has made me really interested in getting one...just because how easy it looks to control ableton with the controller. Seeing how effortless it can be to do something that you might of taken a bit longer using a mouse. |
Alla Bluemke 12.03.2013 | Yeah I believe thats the main problem. I am going to give the 32 bit a try instead. *gave it a go and all is well. couldn't use minimonsta, synth1, sylenth etc |
Nedra Fresneda 12.03.2013 | Might be because those vsts don't have a 64 bit version. 32bit vsts are not compatible with Ableton 64bit version and won't be shown in the browser if that is the case. Which are the ones giving you trouble? https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/64bit-myths-facts/ |

Monserrate Rupnow 12.03.2013 | Been using the 64bit version here since it was in beta, so far very few if any issues. The 64bit version seems to use a little less CPU, in testing but not enough to bother with if you're plug ins aren't 64bit ready. I personally dont hear any difference in Live 8 and Live 9 (in the core program, obviously the new plug ins are a seperate matter), and I was asked specifically to test that. Otherwise, Live 9 mostly feels just like Live 8 to me. Oh, and count me in the group that finds Live's GUI utterly boring and in need of an update. I love simple, non-realistic interface myself, but this is getting a bit long in the tooth IMVHO. |

Efrain Scharr 12.03.2013 | Yeah, you don't really need to be using the 64 bit version... Unless you were having major issues with Live 8 being slow and utilizing too much Ram. |
Caleb Demillo 12.03.2013 | I bought it, and also pre-ordered push. I had to immediately change the default color scheme, it was really not quite contrasty enough for me. But that's not exactly a big deal I installed the 64-bit version. So far it's been totally fine, and my plug-ins (Komplete 8 mostly) all seem to work. I already have a Maschine, so I believe the Push might be somewhat overlapping. As much as I like Maschine, there are times where I want to do similar things in Live, and pulling things over from Maschine can be a kludge. |

Marcos Zelko 08.03.2013 | Got the demo last evening
, running the 64bit version and I'm liking it so far. Honestly I really like the simple design of the UI. Is it just me or does it sound a bit better then live 8? I don't know if my ears are playing tricks on me but it sounds a bit better to me. |
Nedra Fresneda 08.03.2013 | That awesome moment when one of my Ableton students shows up today and buys me a Suite 9 license |

Dino Marusa 08.03.2013 | I've been trying it out over the past couple days, and while it's true that the finished product seems a bit underwhelming at first considering how long this has been in development, I believe the end result is greater than the sum of its parts. In other words, a lot of small tweaks have been made that (at least for me) improved Live's workflow quite significantly. Only gripe I'm having is that it won't recognize a bunch of my plugins for some reason.... |
Vi Melroy 08.03.2013 | New ableton user for me so I don know the program very well but I really like the new EQ8. |

I've really enjoyed what's packaged in there, especially the audio to midi thing. I ran Porter Robinson's "Language" through the harmony one, and it spat out this. It seems to handle the harmonies better when there aren't any drums in the mix, but I'm really impressed with it. |
Corey Tronchin 08.03.2013 | I really like it. The interface is a bit cleaner looking and more inspiring. Ok, it doesn't have a lot of new major features for 4 years of development, but I like that the sum of little improvements make it feel a whole lot more solid in every way. |
Kandra Fagler 08.03.2013 | i just got mine a few days ago - really loving it so far, love the new recordable automations and also love the audio to midi thing overall it feels more of a "polish" than a "super ultra new ableton" but its looking really smooth |
