Thinking about selling my Pioneer HDJ 2000's and getting......
Posted on: 08.12.2011 by Candy Vardy
Hey guys, well yes its true, I'm believeing about selling my Pioneer HDJ 2000's.

Crazy right?

Well here's why....

I've had them for almost a year, and I do love them, but over these months I've started to notice a few things which is really starting to bother me..

1. They get very heavy after playing a few hours.
2. They hurt my ears from the inside of the cup after playing a few hours.

So these are the 2 issues that bother me, especially when I've been using them for a long time. They get heavy around my neck, and they also bother me when I use them for basic everyday use. They also start to hurt my ears, and after a few hours I actually can't wear them anymore, and take them off.

Now this is turning into a deal breaker for me. So I've been looking into other options and the TMA's and HD 25's came up. Now I've tried the TMA's and found them a little loose for my head. They sounded great and very comfortable but I was worried about them moving on my head when I'm playing. Now the HD 25's I've heard fit tighter than the TMA's which is good news for me, and we've all read about their quality etc...

So now I'm considering selling my HDJ 2000's and getting a pair of the HD 25's. The only thing I'm concerned about is their comfort. Are they very comfortable especially for long gigs? I've never had the chance to try them so I'll be going by reviews and opinions. Have any of you owned both cans, can you give any feedback about it?

If they will be a more comfortable fit, then maybe this is what I'll be doing. Good bye Pioneer hello Sennheiser!

Thanks in advance guys. Cheers.

I wouldn't ever dream of bending or changing my headphones!

Well maybeeeeeeee I'd consider modding them, but only cosmetically, and only by these guys!

Yeah I've seen that there isn't any leather padding as such and I've wondered about that but nobody that i know has said anything about it. I could imagine that it might get a bit uncomfortable for some people.

Have you ever tried out the Pioneer's?

I have a hint that maybe on ear headphones like the Senns might feel a lot more comfortable after long hours of use compared to the Pioneer's plus they much lighter.

I wish I knew someone close by that had a pair for me to try, and compare...

They are a bit tight sometimes like some people say but imo that just means they wont come off. I have a massive head (lol) and they arnt uncomfortable, unless iv been wearing them like 6-7h solid in which case i should be taking them off anyway. They are uber light weight and ridiculously robust. hd-25's ftw

Honestly dude if you found the Pioneer's which are circumaural to hurt your ears, I don't believe the Senn's will be any better and actually believe it might be worse! But that's just my two cents bro.

I'm personally about to buy the Sony v6's :-)
Well I'm hoping that being a different size ear cup, and being much lighter, they will feel more comfortable for me.

I'm still undecided about it though..

Headphones are no different than a pair of pants or a jacket. If i wear size 32 jeans that fit me perfectly and styled the way i like mean that the person who is 230lbs should wear the same jeans?

At the end of the day its all about you and what you like.
Yeah you right man, I believe I need to try and find someone that has a pair to compare them, but here where I am, its gonna be very difficult.

The only exception to the rule here is if you wear any Dr. Dre Beats while Djing...you will look like the douche bag wearing the Ed Hardy shirt 2 sizes to small for him.
LMAO! Agreed!

You should look for closed back circumaural headphones, where the cans won't put any pressure on your earlobe. And of course, circumaural cans are even bigger and even more old school.. I quite liked the AKG K271 Mk II for studio work, but they might not be to every DJ's liking for tonal balance.
Well as far as I know the Pioneer's are over ear and that Senn's are on ear. I'm not familiar with the correct terms, but thats the main difference. My believeing is if after long term use, and gigs, from over ear headphones then maybe on ear ones would be more comfortable.

My 7506's are more comfortable on my ears than my HD25's. I still prefer the HD25's mostly because of weight I believe.

Going to believe I am funny but the most comfortable headphones are still the trusty Sony MDR 7506's studio monitors. They are cheap, light, sound great and most of all they are comfortable. I have tried others but can't find any others that feel the same. Can be bought for under $100.00

Apart from that, they should be quite comfy, especially if you find TMA1 to be a bit loose (which means your head is not very large/wide).
Event if HD25 are too grippy, you can still stretch them by leaving them stretched overevening or something similar.

Well they are comfortable, but only for short periods of time, like quick mix sessions at home etc, but for long gigs, and long periods of time, they get heavy, and bulky, and hurt my ears from the inside of the cup pressing on my ear.

Have you considered in ear monitors? More than a few users here do, or are considering them (me being one of them). They're obviously lighter, in most cases isolate better so that you don't have to crank the db's and save your ears. I know it doesn't look as snazzy as rippin a choon with your monster cans, but it seems as though it may be right up your alley.

Amazon has klipsch x10's for 120 bucks or so right now.
