Anyone modified their Korg Nano series ?
Anyone modified their Korg Nano series ? Posted on: 23.04.2012 by Faustino Stringfellow Fate has returned one of my old controllers to me and it's of no use now I use NI-KS4 and DNS SC-2000's.Now as an active gadget man, i am faced with either remapping the Korg Kontrol to do something sexy with the sample banks etc. OR Modify it. On inspection the device is fairly easy to modify except for the surface etched grids for the carbon pad switches. My request/question .... before I start to solder endless wires into the back of this, has anyone been successful doing it? Where are the "gotcha's"? where are the best points to take a jump lead .....any tips on soldering into thee grids. There seems to be 2 circuits to each switch, is this for something particular or is it Korg making sure they connect at all times ????? Mark thanks in advance ..... PS it's far easier doing this with a faderfox ! | |

The idea is to create 2 x F1's or 2 x Midifighter Pro+ depending on the scene selected ... there are 4 scenes, so you can see it's very scalable. |

Faustino Stringfellow 01.05.2012 | i believe it's time to close this thread ask questions on a different community . thankyou to those who answered my questions |
Faustino Stringfellow 01.05.2012 | Unfortunately soldering has absolutely nothing to do with getting this operational now and I do know how to solder. I've been building/repairing gear
for over 25 years, built my very own 68000 series computer in 1982 from components (not expansion boards as you do now). If you had read the thread you would have seen that I'd already soldered it completely ... I am still waiting to hear from those people that successfully rehoused their Nano Kontrol (like myself) and have a functional mapping. The editor allows me to change the CC's/notes so they correspond to the Midifighter series .... making a very cheap midifighter pro |

Faustino Stringfellow 24.04.2012 | i am not using the stock faders, so lego or anything else won't be used or needed and at the moment they are using the original S4 fader caps (to be replaced with croma caps when i finalise the colour scheme) Did you do any modifications other than glue some lego on? |

s.com/showthread.php?t=47274 not so tehcnical... but quite fun!!! |
Faustino Stringfellow 23.04.2012 | I took the plunge and started to add some flyleads to various points on the PCB, fortunately (but not for the faint-hearted) Korg have left a few unsoldered inspection points which can be used as the grounds. The +ve side (i know it's unimportant as it's a switch - but i've identified it this way as to avoid confusion later) can be taken from the small diode next to the grid. Now just several more to attach. The LEDS are a different thing altogether ! |
