Isotonik 8
Isotonik 8 Posted on: 11.09.2011 by Laurice Migneco This maybe the last version we build taking account of all the users feature requests and feedback...The main GUI..... The encoders, heads up display and configurator.... There's 8 banks of encoders that link the Track and Device encoders, the default functionality whereby the device encoders automap to the device in focus is still available as you can switch in and out of the Isotonik mapping... You can set min and max ranges and reset values along with controlling how the APC40 encoder lights up per parameter... We'll be updating a few threads around the community but mainly at our facebook page... www.facebook.com/IsotonikStudios whilst we're having our new website www.isotonikstudios.com built.... Coming along nicely now.... what do you believe of the new look?? Cheers D | |
Rolanda Clodfelder 16.05.2012 | You know what .. ignore me LOL, I believe what I'm actually looking for is a better method of warping I believe, where the master follows a main tracks tempo when nudged rather than being locked to the master tempo or the master tempo is nudged puts other tracks nudge behind. Which AFAIK Not is possible anyhow. I came across this with a severe lack of sleep so forgive me and what I'm asking makes no sense anyhow if there are loops playing. I'm believeing funny so Carry on .. I'll probably pick up Isotonik anyhow in the next few days, some stuff looks pretty darn cool. BTW .. +1 on getting rid of the gradient BG on the controls, it looks weird and a more "abletonesque" feel would be nicer and more integrated (and pro looking just IMHO though) |
Laurice Migneco 16.05.2012 | Sorry mate, you've lost me there.... The two nudge buttons in the clip view can be midi mapped and will then nudge the clip in focus by the amount of the Global Launch Quantization.... Are you asking to change the nudge amount thats available across all the playing clips by the global launch quantization amount??? The idea of the nudge is to do as your reasoning, that you can make minor adjustments to any clip thats playing, if you want to make bigger adjustments use the beat jump feature instead, the size of which you can set on the fly from 1 to 8 beats.... Cheers D |
Rolanda Clodfelder 16.05.2012 | Quick thought about the nudge (as I use it quite a bit) ... Is it possible to set the track nudge + to the same amount as global nudge - and vice versa so your global quantize kinda cancels the track one out (or else some quantized track effects get messed up unless you re-quantize the track later on). Hope that makes some kind of sense ? BTW my reasoning for this is to avoid needing to be so accurate with warping pre-set (which does solve the problem) .. and make things more "grab and drag" during a set. |
Laurice Migneco 16.05.2012 | Here's details of the drums and tempo features... or Vimeo.... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 15.05.2012 | Isotonik 8.3 is now available to download, in addition to the Tempo Control we've.... Fixed an issue with two of the encoders (one in bank three, one in bank eight) that were either not communicating properly or resetting correctly.... Improved the lighting feedback of the drums scene which has eliminated ghost LED's lighting up unneccessarily... Added code that allows the LED feedback of Scene three to be recalled, for example if you have set a button to toggle and turn it on and then leave the scene, returning to the scene will display the lighting correctly (on) rather than restoring the defaults (all off)... Downloads as ever are renewed by subscribers using their download link with payloadz and requesting an "Additional Download" through the system, you get 5 downloads per update although this is likely to be our last release as we move onto other projects... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 08.05.2012 | Umm, it's the same image from the website, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you don't look at the device itself after set up as it's hidden away within the return tracks... Cheers D |
Annita Stenroos 08.05.2012 | I would loose the funky silver gradient background though, and keep more to the color theme on your current web page. wqfdewfvkgsa20120512 28WH original Lenovo Ideapad S9 S10 L08C3B21 BK battery |
Laurice Migneco 08.05.2012 | Added Tempo control to the Cue Encoder... Hold down Metronome and turn and you have fine control 0.01 BPM Hold down Midi Overdub and turn and you have coarse control 1 BPM We'll be adding this functionality to http://www.maxforlive.com/library/devic ... nik-8-lite as soon as we hit 10,000 downloads!! If you haven't downloaded the latest version then get a copy now.... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 25.03.2012 | Latest Isotonik now uploaded to Payloadz.... Subscribers who haven't had a direct download yet need to email their paypal receipt to thelab@isotonikstudios.com and we'll sort that, otherwise request a new download link using the original email you were sent... Why would you want to download the latest?? Now on the Effect module is a "Relocate" button, with it switched on the Track Select buttons will select and show the waveform of the clip playing in each track without re-triggering it, but will also relocate the redbox, clip launch rectangle, to have the currently playing clip at it's centre..... AND!! Isotonik Drums.... Scene 4.... the clip launch grid gives you 20 drum rack slots... Fader 5 controls velocity.... Track Select controls Record quantization... REC/ARM Deletes all notes.... SOLO Deletes the next note pressed... ACTIVATOR toggles Overdub on and off.... Video and Manual to follow!! Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 17.12.2011 | Updated the links on the website... Download Isotonik 8 Manual And thanks to Jean-Lou Nivard we've also got a French version of the manual! Download Isotonik 8 Manuel (Francais) Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 09.12.2011 | Updated the Lite (free) device, details in the video... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/user/S4racen?feature=mhee#p/a/u/0/-tAUZ-Qb184"]S4racen's Channel - YouTube[/ame] Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 09.11.2011 | Our new website went live last evening
, good feedback so far, we'd love to know what you believe... www.isotonikstudios.com Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 03.11.2011 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxAw_zkqHPo Part TWO!! |
Laurice Migneco 02.11.2011 | Project Four is now available, this release primarily focuses on sorting problems users were having when Isotonik mode would turn off under various operations of the APC40.... If anyone finds any different combinations please let us know here or via email, there's only so much testing we can do so we're sure there's more that you can find.... Sugarsync users will find the new file in their download folder whilst Payloadz users should use their original download link, if this has expired simply request a new one from Payloadz and a new one will be organised...! Video of Part TWO is uploading now!! Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 28.10.2011 | Re-enabled the Scene Launch buttons and added the option of whether this will launch tracks placed in the Isotonik Master Device Track for some future planned functionality involving Dummy Clips.... Also updated the manual based on questions i've been recieving and the newest Clip Manipulation features getting their own section.... Direct download link below... https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D162684_6643726_630025 Working on next the final buttons in the Looping Scene to allow you to manually set a loop start with first press, loop end with second press, just like a CDJ, for each of the first four tracks in the clip launch rectangle.... Then we'll be in a position to record part two of the video and show off the new encoder features! Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 25.10.2011 | Toevening
we added functionality to the Track Control encoders when in standard functionality mode (where the device encoders map to the device in focus and can be moved left and right using the arrow keys as usual) With Pan Bank lit the Track Control encoders map automatically to the 8 sends on the highlighted track and update when this changes, pressing the Pan Bank button without shift held will reset all the sends to zero.... Pressing shift and Send A will turn the Track Control Encoders into another set of Device Control encoders, simply press send A without shift depressed and it will copy the parameters of the currently in focus device allowing you to then move track and remain in control of the device you leave behind.... No plans as yet for Send B and C so if you've got a cool idea then please let us know, we want to suport as many different ways of DJing with Ableton as possible! Cheers D |

Laurice Migneco 16.10.2011 | We're proud to announce the release of Isotonik 8! Subscribers can download a copy either by using the payloadz download link they received upon subscribing or through the sugarsync shared folder... Please take the time to read the manual first, as a Livepack the template install directly into your library so there is minimal set up but a number of factors are different to that of Isotonik 7, all of which are explained in the manual... I'd personally like to thank the beta testers especially Charles Brebant, Marek Pleskac, Daniel Wischmann and Paul Montgomery who have been invaluable in developing the device to the standard it is today... Remember please download the manual first, we'll be recording a video over the next week which will be uploaded to our new website, we thought you'd like to have a play first.... ;-) https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D162684_6643726_630025 If you like it please tell the world!! @S4racen or www.facebook.com/IsotonikStudios Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 15.10.2011 | Nearly finished.... Added the follow and pitch device... Which triggers the clip below at clip end and copies the outgoing clips pitch to the new one (as you can change the pitch on the fly with Isotonik) And then resurrected the Smart Effects which now save their presets to the device itself so need no configuring upon opening... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 12.10.2011 | Next few evening
s will be spent building the Live Pack which will install the template and devices preconfigured directly into Abletons library.... Really chuffed to be allowed to do so! Thanks Stefan!! Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 10.10.2011 | So finished scenes 1 and 3.... Added another mode of functionality to scene 2 and still have the Smart effect to add back in.... Next update the manual as the feedback comes back from the beta test group... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 05.10.2011 | This is for scene 3.... One of these for each of the buttons, and the four faders.... set the on and off value for when a button is pressed, the time in milliseconds it takes to travel in between them (you might want a slow transition to on and a sharp cut to off) and the lighting of the buttons within the clip launch grid.... Mapping is simply click on a parameter in live and then click on a button in the window, this is then saved with your set... You can even select how the APC40 behave on a momentary or toggle basis, something not currently possible due to there not being a midi editor.... Momentary beat repeats anyone? Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 04.10.2011 | Beta invites went out this morning to subscribers who requested one! Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 02.10.2011 | Added back in the stepped beat repeat effect, Gater, Reverse and Brake.... Got a scene of assignable buttons to write where you can... assign a button to any parameter in live Set its colour for on and off Set the pressed and released value Set the time it takes to move between values Decide whether the button acts as a toggle or momentary.... Includes the faders... Really see this one as being totally user configurable but i'll be mapping it to some stuff i believe will be useful.... After that i'm stuck, got crossfader assignment control to add to the Detail View button and already added the functionality where you can revert back to the original APC40 functionality for the Device Control encoders and move between devices on a track, you can access the first 16 macros.... Got two scenes left with half of the APC40 to give functionality to in each.... What else is there??? Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 01.10.2011 | Yay, a very long day but the looping is now complete.... When switching into looping mode half of the Launch grid still launches clips the other half controls the looping of those clips, if you move the red rectangle the looping functionality follows so you now have full looping control over every track in your template... Features... Serato/Traktor like set quantized to the bar or beat loops of 1,2 or 4 bars in length... Halve or Double loops by moving the start or end points (choosable from the APC40) Move Loops forwards or backwards by a bar at a time or by their length Reduce a set loop in size by the smallest division Ableton will allow using the fader.... Switch loops on and off and get visual feedback of where the playhead is in relation to the loop brace.... In addition we've upgrade the feature whereby a playing clip in a track will make the Clip Stop button light, it will also now make the Clip Stop button flash when the playhead is within the loop brace and loop is set to on.... I'm off to BPM now to play with all sorts of shiny things and do some networking! Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 30.09.2011 | Do you mean like flash on the beat with a different colour flash on the bar? could still have the button control cue as well... Orange = cue on Green = flash on beat Red = flash on bar What do you believe?? Cheers D |
Brunilda Kora 29.09.2011 | What about metronome per track? Flashing buttons??? |
Laurice Migneco 29.09.2011 | That's not a bad idea, i could make one scene that is effectively a clip manipulation scene giving two rows to nudge forwards and back, two rows to jump by beat forwards and back.... three rows to pitch up down and reset.... Leaves the final row at the bottom which to me would make sense if they were set to control the cue for the track so you can listen to your changes from one page.... Cheers D |
Brunilda Kora 28.09.2011 | Looking awesome, man. Love the idea of nudging individual clips. Can this be added to Octop4d? |
Laurice Migneco 28.09.2011 | And the final (for now) clip manipulation feature, we've added the ability to make playing clips jump backwards or forwards by a quantized beat at a time, perfect for correcting those triggering mistakes.... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 26.09.2011 | And now for the Mixed in Key DJ's we've implemented the ability to change the pitch of a clip using the APC40, you can set the increments and how quickly the pitch changes when the buttons are held down as well as revert the clip to the original pitch with one press.... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 23.09.2011 | Ok so this always bugged me, when i kill the Bass on a track it made it sound slightly out with the rest of the tracks playing, now with a turntable i'd have to slow the platter slightly... With Ableton to do the same you've got to drop the Global Quantize to none, focus on the clip and then midi map the nudge buttons pressing them repeatedly to get it sounding right.... Not anymore!! Press and hold the metronome button and use the Activator button to nudge a track forwards, you set by how much, repeatedly whilst the Activator is pressed, you set the rate at which it gets nudged.... The Arm button does the opposite and pulls the clip backwards.... Feels a lot more like Djing with this level of control at my fingertips..... So thats the Clip Track Button, that you can use to preview waveforms, the Rec Quantize Button, that can change the Global Launch Quantization and now the Metronome button with new functionality.... What's next?? Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 17.09.2011 | Onto Beta 3 already... Adressed some problems with glitchiness but still some fine tuning to do.... The device now has the control surface locked to it so you don't lose focus on what you want your encoders to control and in addition to your 8 configurable banks you can switch back to focusing on the first device in the track selected with the device encoders.... We've completed the Effects bank control and lighting hub which has improved the lighting response time no end, and we've worked out a way to make the looping functionality extend across the 8 tracks that now make up the template..... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 15.09.2011 | [ame="http://vimeo.com/29112978"]Isotonik 8 - Beta 1 on Vimeo[/ame] A brief video of how the device can be re-configured to your hearts content giving 8 banks of 16 encoders that can be instantly switched between along with the APC40's default behaviour remaining available as well.... Cheers D |
Laurice Migneco 13.09.2011 | The current website's about to disappear, the gradient background is from my new site.... Cheers D |
Delphine Mauser 12.09.2011 | Looking good Darren. I would loose the funky silver gradient background though, and keep more to the color theme on your current web page. |
