Should I buy a Korg Zero 8?
Posted on: 12.06.2012 by Horacio Stranathan
I have an opportunity to buy one but I am on the fence.

Not sure if I should buy this, or if I should buy a Denon MC6000 or VCI-400.

Opinions? I know about the hissing problem, plan to use SPDIF out. Any other input would be lovely.

to be honest i would buy it again right now for full price since it's a great controller, plus you still get the free mono bag until the end of this month which is sweet. i'm also a sucker for limited edition stuff but that's just me.

good luck with your hunt and let us know what you decide on.

I have removed my need for the korg. I was trying to find anything good about it because it is such a solid idea, but its bets if I don't get it. Now I need to decide what I really want. VCI-400 EGE, MC6000 or DN-X1600. So hard to decide.
i was in the same boat as you but deciding between the vci-400 ege, the s4, or the x1600. i threw out the idea of the x1600 because i started liking the idea of jogwheels and the ability to manually beatmatch if needed without any other gear. i finally landed on the vci-400 and have been loving it! great piece of gear, limited edition, customizable, free bag plus i snagged it on sale last week for $959. i know it's a tough choice but i made the right one for myself. i believe if i would have went with either of the other 2 i would have always been wondering what the world would have been like with the ege.

Google the zero8, it was a nice concept but there are tons of bad reviews on it and threads about it's problems. It didn't get discontinued so fast for no reason.

I settled for the Vestax vcm-600 but it doesn't have everything I need in a mixer for the remix decks. So am selling it to get a xone 4d.

I loved the fact that it is 8 channels but I have read the same thing about quality. I believe I will steer clear of the korg, what did you end up getting.

I was looking to buy a korg zero 8 but I have heard it has of a lot of problems. Many people reported hissing, touchscreen going out and overheating. might wanna google it before you make a decision.

originally I was believeing about running tractor, ableton and machine all on the same controller/mixer.

So torn as to what to do.

It all depends on what you're after. The Zero8 is an 8 channel mixer but it is midi mappable so I suppose it could be a standalone controller but it seems it would be less than intuitive. And between the MC6000 and VCI400 I would definently go with the VCI400. Everyone knows Vestax makes quality gear and with DJTT taking it under their wing there is a ridiculous amount of support available along with mappings. Right now you could even get the EGE/VCI400 which looks to be the bee's knees. Just my thoughts.
