Midi Controller Design Posted on: 28.06.2012 by Linda Chavda Is there any software which would be good for accurately designing midi controllers? And which is the best site for components in the uk? Probably being posted before but I couldnt find anything specific, but apologies in advance | |
Arcelia Siebeneck 29.06.2012 | so 16 digital inputs? in that case you could order a Leo Bodnar controller here: http://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836/ |

Natasha Reddaway 05.07.2012 | well hello to you too.... im sure these spam bots are getting stupider... can this one not be banned already? Cheers Dazzler |
Natasha Reddaway 04.07.2012 | Yea true i guess, I still want to build one, I believe just to say I have. I have heard of this new Behringer modular setup, haven't seen it yet... really should go for a hunt. Cheers Dazzler |
Arcelia Siebeneck 04.07.2012 | To be honest, I'm waiting for the Behringer controllers to come out as they seem to tick all the boxes. All the new & forthcoming modular style controllers seem to have pretty much killed off the DIY dj midi controller scene unfortunately... but I guess it's just the hardware companies finally getting round to building controllers that everyone has been dreaming about for so long! I'm also looking into modding a Raspberry Pi into an mp3/cdj style player but that's at the very early stages at the moment... |

Bon Finix 03.07.2012 | there are only a handful of suppliers next to the original company. Here is a Dutch one (with English site): http://www.pieterfloris.nl/shop/cate...id_category=45 perhaps they can deliver faster. It's where I got my Teensy's from. Also watch out for the ripoffs! There are a lot of fake ones in circulation, but they don't work the same as the original ones. |
Arcelia Siebeneck 02.07.2012 | There isn't a UK supplier as far as I know, unfortunately. But I didn't get charged any import duty when I bought two last year... delivery was a bit slow though. |
Natasha Reddaway 01.07.2012 | Im looking for a uk supplier of the teensy... Anyone know one?? Cheers Dazzler |
Diogo Dj Dragão 01.07.2012 | Another vote for SketchUp. I use it for all of my conceptualization. While the SketchUp models are a little crude, you can find some great free Ruby scripts and plugins to help you make your models more organic (try here to start - http://community
s.sketchucation.com/view...?f=323&t=16909 ). And if you're working with a completed PCB layout and want to do basic ID, there are several tools that will allow you to import your completed PCB (in IDF or Eagle files) into SketchUp so you can model around it. Check out EagleUp ( http://eagleup.wordpress.com/ ) and PCB Converter ( http://www.designspark.com/sketchup ). Good luck and have fun! |
Bon Finix 30.06.2012 | If you don't mind programming, get a TeensyUSB! Then you get native midi over USB! |
Linda Chavda 29.06.2012 | I'll look into it, thanks for the help! |

Linda Chavda 29.06.2012 | Just something midifighter kind of sized to start with, nothing big. |
Arcelia Siebeneck 29.06.2012 | depends on what kind of I/O you need (number of analogue/digital inputs)... |
Linda Chavda 29.06.2012 | Any idea on where to buy midibrains in the UK too? Everywhere looks as if Ill have to get them imported. |
Bon Finix 29.06.2012 | some software you could use: autocad inventor google sketchup |
