How to setup a Korg Kaos Pad Quad with a M-Audio Fast Track Pro?
Posted on: 10.07.2012 by Hye Sportel
I just got a Kaos Pad Quad this morning, was wondering if its possible to set it up using a Fast Track Pro, and if it is, how do I do it?

Cheers.

The Master output is RCA 1+2 which goes to the KPQ Input, my speakers go into TRS 1+2, leaving no where for the KPQ output to go. See why I'm stuck?

From what I've gathered, I need an output going from the soundcard, input to the KP, then back to the soundcard, right?

I've managed the input part as the KP is picking up the BPM and flashing in time with a track, its just getting the effects to come out of the speakers.

Its for DJ'ing, currently using Traktor Pro 2 with the Fast Track Pro, no mixer.

Ah I see. I'll need to pick up some RCA's then as my speakers are using TRS cables at the moment (which the KPQ doesn't have ports for.)

Cheers for the help mate, sorry if you ended up hitting your head of the desk towards the end.

No, you unplug the speakers from the soundcard and then plug them into the output of the KPQ.

Then you take a new cable and connect the output from the soundcard to the input of the KPQ.

The master has to run THROUGH the KPQ.

Yes, but there is still no where for the KPQ output to go. The speakers go directly into the soundcard.

If you are using it to apply effects to the master the KPQ goes between the master output from your soundcard and your speakers.

[Soundcard] -> [KPQ] -> [Speakers]

Set the KPQ to "direct" mode

I'm just not sure where the output from the KPQ would go, as my master output is already being used to input to the KPQ.

Yes that would be ideal but I don't believe traktor supports FX loops so it wouldn't work. I could be wrong.

It'll have to do I guess, its mostly just for jamming out during tracks theres plenty other effects for mixing. Any idea how I would wire it all up? Thats the part I'm stuck with.

I'm not sure you can create an FX loop with traktor, I believe you'd have to put the KP Quad on the master which is far from ideal really... :/
