sparkfun 4x4 pad and teensy
Posted on: 29.07.2012 by Nydia Jaurigue
hello there. i am completely new to electronics. i just bought a teensy 2+ and a 4x4 pcb and button pad from spark fun. i will be using single color LED's and not RGB ones. i have the following questions, if someone can help me please:
1. is it possible to read buttons and write to LEDs with NO multiplexing? can someone provide a schematic of how to connect rows and columns to teensy?
2. if this is not possible without multiplexing, what sort of multiplex IC's i need for reading buttons and writing to LED's?
3. any ready made sketch to cover 1 & 2 above?

thank you!!!

thanx a lot for the information!!!!

however, this is HID and not midi, correct?

also i wanted to know how to connect the matrix of buttons and LED's in teensy without / or with multiplexers

do i need diodes in both configurations? i.e. with/ without multiplexers?

thanx
