Please help - looking for controller...
Posted on: 26.09.2012 by Valencia Chevez
hey everyone, I am new to the community so forgive me if i am in the wrong section.

I am looking for a very specific controller and cant seem to find one that fits my needs.

I am using SSL and Video SL. basically i would like to find a controller that can control the 2 "video effects" on each channel in videoSL. The controls are 1. select effect 2. dry/wet knob and 3. engage. the ideal setup for this would be an endless rotary for selecting the effect, a regular rotary (like a filter knob) for the dry/wet and a regular button for engage.

there are 2 effects per side, so thats 4 total. and then you can control the vider transition effect, so I would want one more setup..

that would be 5 of these setups (6 would make it uniform, so I am cool with that or more...)

This is basically what a VFX-1 is, but i would need 2 of them daisy-chained together. i would love it to be the size of X1/F1,VFX1, or even midifighterPRO, etc...

I have tried the X1 and there is too much going on there for me. I also tried the nanokontrol, which was perfect interms of size but no endless rotarys...

can anyone brainstorm and help me find something like this?? I'd even pay for a custom one!!!
(but I am not gonna pay livid almost$600 for thier modular setup!!!)

sorry for the HORRIBLE sketch, but this is what I am believeing:

thanks in advance to anyone who has any input!!!!!!!

Oh...and, I have found the nanoKontrol2 to be a bit more stable for me than the original (v1)...so I use it and a launchpad for Ableton.

I believe there are a few other transport controls or something as well?

The OP specifically needs Encoders which the NanoKontrol does not have

Might also be worth checking out the Steinberg ... 2 of them for around $250

Faderfox DX3 ?

Not exactly the configuration you are looking for but 4 controls each side, buttons corresponding and a center encoder which might work perfectly for transition FX control.

thanks to everyone for your help!!

tI bought a zero, its wayyy to big for my setup.

the nocturn is really flakey with its mapping and serato. many people on serato community s have tried and ditched that controller - but that is basiacally the perfect size and form factor for me..

that custom page you sent is really expensive. i could put together a livid builder for about $550 - but that is more than I am willing to spend. i dont mind dropping 250-3 on this.. not $600...

anyone else??

thanks soooo much to those who replied!!!

Both of those options are great, but if you really want a custom controller click here. It will get pricey though
